Weeding one border this morning and uprooted a couple of self set little trees to give everything else chance to breathe! Hubby is mowing the lawns, he's cleaned some of the guttering out at the front and I've just come back from B&Q as we needed a new bolt for our side entrance (it's only been broken for over 6 months!)
Have some plants ready to put in after my cup of tea!

Spent most of the day in the garden today. Cut the front and back lawns, and dug out an overgrown flower bed. Sunburnt, hot and very tired ;D

After spending the hottest part of the day relaxing in a garden chair and 'looking' at what needs doing in the borders I then planted two (upright) Fuschias and a couple of Morning Glory ( the only two that have survived!!) I repotted two Acer Trees which Riddles bought me at the weekend. Dont they look larger when in bigger containers? I have fed most of the plants that needed doing and pulled a couple of weeds that were hiding amongst the plants. I have just finished watering the borders --the wind had dried the soil up. I have also sprayed against greenfly and Blackspot-on the Standard Rose Tree- I use Rose Clear 3 and sprinkled Slug Pellets round the Lupins. The garden looks so much tidier now-all I have to do is wait till it grows--but there again I am sure to find something I have forgotten about tomorrow!!

Yesterday I planted my morning glories, sweet peas, pot marigolds, some stocks, nicotania, aquilegias and runner beans - I'm hoping they will be ok, I wanted to wait another week or so for the beans but they have outgrown everywhere! Today it's more of the same! Have a good day everyone - we have all been busy!

Since I got back I've gotten one of the neighbours boys to cut the grass which has made a huge difference to the look of my garden. It's been so neglected this year but I did what I could which was very little. I left the crutches by the path and cut all the edges and did a bit of pulling up of weeds and spent flowers. It's amazing the difference just a little bit of tlc can make.

LG--When do you expect to get the plaster off? It must be so frustrating for you not being able to do the garden as you would like. That was nice of the neighbour to 'lend' you their son to cut the lawn for you. I sat and watched the garden grow till about 5pm when I had to water the container plants. I have also been busy staking the tall plants before we get any winds-the other reason being the plants then grow and hide the stakes-- My Alliums have come on a treat-they are standing tall and not bending over-when I have time I will take some photographs and post them later. I have also sprayed (with Systemic Rose Clear 3) the remaider of plants that were missed the other day. All in all a very satisfying day in the garden.

It's such a busy time in the garden is'nt it. Just when you think I'll sit and relax for a while, something needs to be done. I've spent most of the morning, clearing out weeds, overspent flowers and cutting back things which have gone over. I've liften all the lilly bulbs which the beetles had gotten to and have them in a sheltered place to die down. They're going into pots in the autumn. I've dug out the perenial walflower as it'd gone all bare and woody at the bottom but I'd taken cuttings a while ago and they've taken well so I'll still have one to carry on. I've had to reposition some of the Dahalia as some were too shaded to grow properly and one was totally in the wrong place. The grass got cut and edged a couple of days ago so the garden is looking well again. I took a few pics for my thread then sat and had a much needed cuppa.

Just as think I have caught up with the jobs to do in the garden I sit down to relax--but---- I notice something that needs doing and before I know it I have been pottering around for an hour! Like you LG--I spot those overspent flowers and then start cutting back things which have gone over-- Maybe a neighbour will pass by and comment on the garden--another half hour gone! I managed to get to the Local Shop (which sells some gardening items) I bought some more Feed, Bone Meal and Phosphogen aswell--

I've planted my new purchases of Echinacea, Verbena and Gaura and also planted out the remaining 2 Dahalia which I grew from seed this year. I've managed to find a spot in the borders for the 10 week and night scented stock which I was growing in pots and picked a big bunch of sweetpea in between the thunderstorms.

Not much gardening done today- The weather has been too unsettled-Heavy rain on and off all day plus a Mini-Vortex this morning! I have managed to get out this evening just to de-head the spent flowers. My Honeysuckle has started to bud and come into flower just when I thought I wouldn't get any this year. Nature surprizes us sometimes doesn't it?

I had a surprise too Biggy - my lovely wisteria that "died" without any reason I notice has started to sprout again
In the garden today - I watered my Godetia in window boxes - they are sheltered so dont get as much water

You are right Jenny--It is best not to tell him about the Brug--He will go bonkers and tear the last of his hair out! (Sorry FB-I know you will take that in good humour) I have done absolutelty nothing in the garden today-just had a 'nose' around picked up some litter that had blown/thrown in. No watering needed after all that rain. Half day off Jenny? How do you manage that?-On the Sicky or just felt like it because you are your own Boss?

At last I remembered to cut the dead flowers off my stinking hellibore in the front garden, and pulled some grass that was growing in the borders!! I do wish O.H. would put that grass box on!! he says he does but I had more in the borders han on the lawn!! I dead headed the roses in the back garden and chopped anything that was overlapping the path, my legs were soaking the other day when I went to the compost bin, oh and Im picking petals up that have fallen off my lillies I dont want to chance Teddy eating them or little Calleb when he comes.

the only things i've been doing in the garden is puling the grass out from the borders, with all the rain we had, its taller than my flowers, and dont the weeds take over when you havnt been out there for a while,
