Melanie--Get that camera out and lets have a peek at your "back-yard" I am sure it is not as bad as you describe!! And if it is maybe we can help you with it? (Ha-Ha) Jas-- I think that is awful having to use your time off for interviewing--especially Bank Holiday week--Hope it was worth it in the long run--Bigs

I am waiting for Wilkinsons to stock the Chicken Pellets--if I lived nearer Emsey I could get some from her hens! ;D I keep forgetting where I have planted my Summer Bulbs (last year) and keep digging them up thinking I just have bare soil! Every year I think I must leave a label to remind me but--forget--

He made a circle with a piece going into the ground from some wire which he placed over the snowdrops so when they died off, he could see the ring inside which they were planted. I thought that was a good ides but haven't tried it myself yet.

Yes I did see that programme and the 'Tip' about the circle of wire--but finding a piece of wire when I need it?--your guess is as good as mine! ;D

I have made my veg bed - dug out the rest of the area I had started, edged it with victorian looking slate stone edges (I was going to make some timber ones but remembered we had these when I was at the GC this morning), bought some more canes and a new rosemary plant, horseradish tuber and coriander plant (to keep me going until my seeds grow). Have rescued a mouse madam caught - it was quite funny because he kept turning round, going on to his back legs and bashing her on the nose with his little paw! Having a quick snack now, then back out!

Petal I'm going to smack your bottom!!!! I have 5000 tomato plants here! If your ready for some I'll bring them on sat. Myrtle, those slates sound like a lovely idea. Coriander-bleugh, I hate the stuff. Poor old Poppycat I've also been planting sunflowers out, and potting the last of them on. I've potted on my azalea seedlings, I've lost the packet, they wont go out this year will they? I'm going to harden off the runner beans this week, and next weekend i'll be turning out a compost bin and putting the RB in around the swing, wish me luck, cause they will be in the hen area, I'll be putting up defences, but will they be breached?

I've finished the one veg bed and have planted Lollo Rosso lettuces, mixed salad leaves, beetroot, carrots - nantes & chanenay, some cabbage seeds I found (only 8 - not sure how long they have been there!) and put the canes in ready for the runner beans. Planted up 2 of the wall baskets which are now in the greenhouse and potted some more things on. Phew - I'ma having a cup of tea now, then going to run a bath before I cook my evening meal. I've also spotted bluetits nesting in the brickwork at the side of the house (they must be in the cavity or between the floors!) - they are both flying in & out so presume they have littlies in there Repotted the aloes and split them from their babies - they were looking very sickly.

I have just been out to 'look' over the garden. The bedding plants I had not managed to plant out are drooping even after all that rain the other night! I think the wind has dried them up.

Well I have finished all my planting up of bedding plants. I managed to stake the Tall plants before we got that Windy weather. I have planted one Hanging basket (only have room for one) I am waiting for Crocus to deliver Two Acers I ordered at the weekend-then I promise myself "No more plants--" but I am sure to be tempted when I go to the Bootsale on Sunday! My Morning Glories have all come through but the problem now is where do I find roo for them. I offered my near neighbour some but she didn't even know what they were or what they looked like so declined the offer even though I explained that they were lovely climbers with lovely flowers-- Gave the borders a Good soaking, the ground is so dry--

Managed to do some weeding and pulling up of dead pansies yesterday. It's not much but it's a start back again and it was so good to be able to do it. I've quite a lot to get planted but it'll all have to hold on for another week or so.

Today I sat on the seat outside, gathered lots of little cuttings that I took last year which I'd kept in the mini greenhouse over the winter and potted them all up into a window box. It took forever as I had to hobble on the crutches with one flower pot at a time and the window box is on the ground until someone comes along and lifts it for me, but it was marvellous to be planting again.

Yes Isn't it frustrating LG--Those sort of jobs dont take much doing until you are on crutches! Then having to depend on someone else to finish it off. I cant 'bend' or Dig now so have to wait for help-but have to be patient. Be very careful LG hobbling along we dont want you falling and un-doing the healing process. Take care. The soil has dried up again with all the wind we have had we could do with a good downpour!!

Thank you for your concern Biggles. I'm being really careful. Patience is not normally something I have in abundance but you sound as 'tho you've learned that lesson well. Thankfully it seems to rain here just when the plants need it as I could'nt manage a watering can just now.
