Hello Lady; lovely to see you on here - please take care I had someone round last night to put up two large trellis and plant in three bags manure in my clay soil I just dont have the time but so nice when it has all been done for you I now have to buy some planters and climbers to climb up them Oh Jenny, what plants are you going to buy? I wish someone would come round and dig in the 2 m cubed of soil and mushroom compost I had delivered yesterday!

Do you know FB - I knew you would. I did quite enjoy planting up a few large shrubs with it yesterday and there is so much of it I haven't even made a dip in the surface really - unlike those small bags from the GC.

Oh I nearlly forgot ;D I planted the last of my mesimaranthemums (sp) so everything I need to put in is in before Im off! I leave my pots till I come home and then see what the garden centres have left.

I made 3 obelisks today and planted 2 clems and a bright pink jasmine. I also planted out my leeks.

Do you think she will be OK in a container Jas

Mine is - I've read that they should be in a container at least 18" by 18" and the pot must be kept quite shaded as clems like their roots to be cool and moist. I'm going to get some bark chips to put on top of the compost or plant bedding plants in the pot.

That is what I do with my Clematis and I also put another container in front of it just to make sure the pot doesn't get too much sun at the roots. Maggs I am sure your DIL will look after your garden while you are away. I dont think they will dry out--Enjoyed your holiday you deserve a well earned rest ;D I wont be doing much in the garden today unless I get some bargains at the Bootsale! ;D and then it depends on the weather-it is forecast for heavy rain later.-

My containers are 33" long but only 11" high - is that enough I knew about the roots in shade so have made sure they are well covered Yesterday didnt do too much cos of the weather but managed to put up a netting and then secure one of my small ramblers that had blown down

Well, that's plenty of room for the roots to spread out Jenny I would have thought.

Hope so I think Parisienne will be ok as that is a Patio clem but if not I can always go buy another one Your Godetia's are looking good - I have places already earmarked for them when they grow up and want to leave home

Bootiful day here so off to the garden centre to buy two clems for two pots and I ended up buying ALSO two foxgloves(I blame Sleepy for this) a Lychnis Jenny , 4 solar lights and a very unusual Spanish lavender Called Passionne. It has large tissue paper flowers - I looked for another one but none there Will have to go back 2moro as I need another Jenny - although big plants I have a lot of space to fill and two will look better After digging over my front border - hard work - I planted my new purchases and then carried on weeding, digging and tidying up It's never ending - oh and I pruned back a large shrub turning into a tree and took four bags leaves and branches to the tip

I've seen your pics FB and they're smashing. JW you've been very busy I see. Don't you just wonder where the time goes to when you're in the garden. I've got all my Dahalia and Cosmos planted out now, oh and my morning glory. I'm delighted to have been able to get them in even if it took me 10 times longer than it should. I'll be so glad when I get rid of these crutches in another 2 weeks. I still need to get the Anthirranium's planted out. My grass is like a field as I can't get it cut yet and it makes the whole garden so neglected looking.
