Hello medears...can I keep a diet diary here ? Those of you who are completely bored with my start-stop diets please ignore this thread. ;D Today I have TURNED DOWN fish and chips (a colleague offered to treat me at lunchtime), chocky bickies (another colleague's bd) and my son bought me a HYOODGE bar of Cabdbury's fruit & nut (OH is eating it for me...) Gosh, what a hero... My sister Susan came round yesterday and we weighed each other...AAAAURGH! I want to loose weight a) For my health b) so that I can buy some nice clothes c) For my holiday next year... abroad with OH for the first time EVER! I plan to aim to lose a stone before Yuletide. I am not crash dieting but I am seriously overweight and need to loose at least 3 stone. Today I have had... Breakfast: A great big bowl of strawberries with a muller light yogurt. Break-time: A packet of Quavers, a handfull of grapes and a pear. Dinner: Carrots, caulliflower & brussels sprouts with a small grilled pork steak. Supper (at 7pm) will be 4 low fat digestive bickies, 2oz full fat cheddar and some fruit. The weigh in is next Thursday....will I stay good?

Just don't forget us, when you become that size 8 super model OK? We think you are a super model anyway. When I saw this thread title, I started thinking of that advert on TV for R Whites Lemonade. I'm a secret lemonade drinker, R Whites.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqBa7eay6Fo

Ah Cheery darling, I know exactly how you feel...........I wish you the very best of luck. I have given up trying now as despite the hooomungous amount of exercise I get I never lose an ounce! I don't exactly over eat either these days as I don't have time to! I think you're practically perfect the way you are too (dodgy feet though... ) but if you're not happy then you go for it hunny! I think you need to distract yourself from food as much as possible - get a load of books, some arty stuff to do and an overflowing bowl of friut!

Thank you for the support chaps. ...Keith....I would be happy with a size 16! ;D Today I've done the ironing as I got up so early! I didn't have the digestive bickies last night because I found some water biscuits which are just as tasty and have fewer calories. Today's diet diary: Breakfast: 3 slices of grilled bacon, 2 slices of wholemeal bread from a 400g loaf spread with Philadelphia extra light and an egg fried in fry-lite. numnum...

Good luck from me too Cheery. I won't go on about me and diets and good intentions, it would go on for a very v e r y long time. I am overweight and I'm full of bad habits so I know why it's so, and I also know if I kicked some of these bad habits I'd lose weight. I also know, infuriatingly, that I have the willpower to do it, as I lost 6 stone after having my 2nd child through eating well and no bad habits, only to be surprised by my third child and somehow then it all went wrong. It's all my own fault, I can only blame worrying times up to a point, the truth is, I just love food and drink, and enjoy eating, drinking and the merry bit! I need a kick up the bum by a very big wellie to start me off and then I'll be on the road too to wearing what I want, being seen in a swimming costume, not feeling fat and conspicuous and all the rest of it. Oh and the health thing too. What you are eating sounds very healthy to me, but aren't you hungry? Couldn't you pad it out a bit with more filling, low-calorie stuff? You sound very resolute, you'll do it and well done for grabbing the bull by the horns. Why not have one of those count-down thingies in your signature, like The witch had when her grandchild was expected? One that counts down the pounds you've lost?

Gosh, you are all being very sweet.... I'm managing fine, went out with big sis today and had a meal in a GC...a big green salad (no dressing) a jacket spud (no butter) and a little cheese. Tonight I have a big casserole stuffed with lots of fresh wholesome veg and a chicken breast. I still have half a punnet of strawberries and bought apples, pears, tangerines and grapes...so I won't be hungry! My 'treat' today will either be a bag of quavers or some caramel flavoured rice cakes. I shan't go with the ticker if you don't mind...I'm just taking it a week at a time and if I didn't lose for a couple of weeks I'd feel such a failure (being able to see it every time I logged on AF!) Only downside so far has been that I ended up cooking three different meals, OH isn't keen on casseroles so I cooked him chicken chow mein, son doesn't eat so I cooked him gammon steak and chips...and my casserole will be ready in about..... now....

OH and son are eating chocolate.... I am being strong.... You are being so strong and I wish you well -honest I have never had to diet but over the last 2/3 years I have developed a 'stomach' I assume this is the mid-drift associated with maturing years! My problem is that I haven't put on weight as such, just this horrible stomach which means clothes don't fit anymore. If they fit the bum and thighs they are too tight on the tummy. If they fit the tummy they hang and look like Coco the Clown. Any advice welcome Cheery from what I have read you are lovely as you are, but if you want to change, go for it and I will read your thread with interest and encouragement.

I'm still going...ooooh THREE DAYS!!! Breakfast : Boiled egg with 3 ryvita spread with Philadelphia extra light and a bowl of yummy strawberries. Mid morning: a large juicy pear ;D Dinner: A tiny piece of fillet steak (an ounce cos OH scoffed the rest with chips, fried egg, fried onions and peas ) with 4 baby potatoes and a large mixed salad. Supper: 6 Pogen Krisprolls slathered with Philadelphia extra light, cucumber slices and grapes....yummy...I was crunching like a mad woman!

If they fit the bum and thighs they are too tight on the tummy. If they fit the tummy they hang and look like Coco the Clown. Any advice welcome Sagging tummy muscles can be tightened with leg lifts, dont do sit ups....they damage the back. Lie comfortably on the floor, and lift the legs off the ground by about 4" Hold them there for a count of ten. Do this daily in sets of ten, increasing as you find it easier. Its harder than it sounds, but it uses the tummy muscles in a way that makes them stronger, you should see a noticeable difference in a week.

I did try sit-ups but they strained my lower back. Until 2005 I was doing quite strenuous work, gardening and working in a Garden Centre, lifting the heavy sacks and pulling the plant trolleys and the heavy garden furniture obviously kept the muscles taught. I will try the leg lifts, thanks ;D

Crikey, well done Cheery! Your diet sounds hard work though to me.............but if you are enjoying it that's great I have subsisted on toast, Lemsips and soup all week ( a combination of feeling horrid and being too tired to cook anything after work) and I haven't lost any weight at all...anyone else would have at least lost a few pounds - humph! Do you have a weekly weigh in time?
