Ah Debbie, you sound like me...an innocent in the etiquette of rock concerts........I always avoid that heaving mass of bodies down the front cos I am so short I always feel totally intimidated....I make for the bit where the wheelchair users go as they have the best view for us short people! At the Rodrigo Y Gabriella concert I wedged myself next to an elderly gent in a wheelchair and held his wine glass for him! We enjoyed a rather nice evening...apart from his very very posh wife who was off her face. Very funny but slightly annoying as she kept falling on me......

You should've held her glass too! I hate it right up there too, I really don't do well there, or rather never used to - so THAT'S a mosh pit?

I always struggled to the front at concerts....and even when I go to smaller venues I like to sit near the front...usually cross-legged on the floor...altho these days you are quite likely to be trampled....I'll take me crochet hook next time and poke 'em if they get too close....

You know I read these slimming entries with some amusement and not a little jealousy. Glad you can lose weight. The breakfast mention I could not eat. The lunch ditto Most of the dinner would be out too! So my NORMAL days food. Breakfast 2 rounds toast, home made bread, home made jam. No butter or margerine. Black tea no sugar. Mid morning. Black coffee, no sugar Lunch Home made vegtable soup of some description. Pureed apples with a little Soya cream. Black tea Dinner. Any 5 veg you can think of plus a small piece of chicken cooked in Balsamic vinegar. Glass of apple juice Two apples. Black coffee. Evening treat, a piece of soft liquorice and a piece of fudge (1/2 inch cube). Supper. Two TUC biscuits 'cos my tablets have to be taken with food. And that is fairly standard for most days, except the ones where we do not have any meat at all. And on that my weight stays the same!

I'm not following the Slimming World diet or Weight Watchers. They are both good organisations and lots of people do well with their help, but I've been there, done that...I have difficulty getting to classes anyway as I don't drive and work shifts . There's also the patronising bunkum the group leaders come out with sometimes (and when they make wild claims it makes my toes curl...) I've decided to eat the sort of food I like, rather than struggle with stuff I don't like. Less likely to give up. If I really want a bar of chocolate (which I don't) I'll have one....but will make sure that I count it in...I'd rather use my calories up with proper meals. I weigh my cheese, only having a 1 1/2 oz portion, when I cook omelettes I use 'fry-light' (a spray), so I don't use puddles of butter or owt. Walker's French Fries and Quavers are quite low calorie snacks and as long as I don't have more than one packet a day I don't think that I'm being extravagant. Breakfast: 3 slices of lean bacon, grilled. Egg fried in fry light and 2 slices of wholemeal toast with philadelphia extra light spread. Pear. Lunch: Too busy...a recently bereaved friend called so I've been over to her place all afternoon! Dinner: Spag Bol made with Quorn mince and fresh spaghetti I might have a small wholemeal roll with it as I missed lunch. + Green Salad.

OB...I must admit that it's more difficult to loose weight than it was when I was in my thirties! I'm not particularly active and am quite a fussy eater. I spose that I am lucky in that I can eat whatever I like, apart from shellfish (allergies). Unfortunately I am a greedy person and just eat far too much.
I'm astonished that you don't loose weight on your diet, altho it does sound quite delicious...do you not tolerate any dairy products at all? I don't like milk, but I can drink it (yuk). Home made bread?...mmmmmmm my Mum used to make her own bread, I did for a time but we ate far too much of the stuff so I stopped....

There's a very thin line between loving one's food and greed, I think I err on either side of it every day! I love your breakfasts Cheery, that is the very meal where you can go to town a bit. OB I'm astonished you don't lose weight with what you eat, it really doesn't seem much at all.

No Dairy produce, Lactose intolerant. No alcohol. makes me ill immediately, No chocolate, instant migraine, ditto citrus. Not had sugar in drinks for 40 years. Don't like sweet fizzy drinks such as Coke. Don't eat any commercially processed stuff. (The only tins in our recycling bin have had cat food in them!). Nothing fried either I would love a plate of old fashioned chips, but the last time we tried they gave me chronic stomach troubles. Even the bread these days is causing problems. Todays dinner was Vegan Lasagne ie no meat or cheese in it. We have a theory called Added Calories. It works like this, if you like something then you have to at least double the number of calories it contains. So say Chocolate has 100 calories per portion, then for me that is all it has, but for someone who likes chocolate it would have 200 calories! The more you like something the more added calories it has. I do walk about 5 miles most days by the way, albeit slower these days. Finally a little story. A friend was on a diet and losing weight, so I went on it with her, except for the tuna fish which I detest. I had to cut down on what she ate , I could not manage the amount. She won slimmer of the year and I put a stone on! I am pleased for those who can lose weight.

Sometimes it is just down to our metabolism and we have to accept it. I had always been slim, I am not a big eater and never have been. Now (perhaps because of my age and all that brings with it) I have gained inches around the girth over the past few years. I admit I am not doing strenuous work as I was, but I am still fairly active. I am eating no more, if fact probably less. I do rather like red wine though that I know is quite calorific ;D
