That sounds lovely though Myrtle - I take it you won't let ketchup anywhere near it, it's sublime as it is. Tonight we will be having half the cake and biscuit section of Morrisons, pizza, sausage rolls, sandwiches and every no-no mentioned on any list of healthy eating - daughter's birthday so it's compulsory. we'll be repeating the exercise on Sunday with all the leftovers from her party. Ah well, someone's got to do it.

I'm having a crack at making the lamb curry that was featured in the 'Indian Cooking Made Easy' on the BBC last Monday I'm not adding the fenugreek dumplings and I'm using the low fat coconut milk instead of the full fat version...having it with plain boiled rice and a couple of chapatis. I feel very brave...cooking with garlic for the first time ever....the recipe calls for 5 cloves, but we've decided to use 2 as we're not garlicophiles.... Now where did I put the milk of magnesia.......

Um....it was okaaaaaay I spose. It was like a Korma, very creamy. I prefer my curries hot. I think it would be nicer with chicken rather than the lamb, OH loved it. (and the curry) I made some bombay potatoes with it for him.

I haven't emsey, we did gather cockles, amongst other things on one of our camping trips - and I did them with seaweed instead of noodles! It was a free meal, it was good. That pudding sounds delicious - let us know how it turns out please?

Parents evening - as long as she does her best that is all you can ask isn't it? Is she still going to the Brownies group that she tried before Christmas?

Parents evening - as long as she does her best that is all you can ask isn't it? Is she still going to the Brownies group that she tried before Christmas? I'm very pleased with how well Hollys doing at school, I find the work they are expected to do quite shocking, and the school have had me in before now as they are worried about the way she holds her pencil, the fact that they sometimes have to ask her to do things 2 or three times and the fact that she sometimes wonders away before she has finished work set. This was while she was still 5! 2 teachers in a class of 30+ 5 year old, if she gets stuck, and she's isn't very good at getting herself heard and is often push to the back of the que I'm not surprised she goes off to play rather than stareing at a page! Maybe I should take this to the rant thread ;D She is still going to rainbows, but the Vicar and his wife (who runs rainbows) are moving to a new parish, so the future is unsure.

Why are they worried about the way she holds her pencil, surely she holds it in a way she can cope with and is comfortable with? I know adults that you have to ask two or three times before they do something! Give her time, she is only young, why can't they just be children?
Oh I do hope the Rainbows continues as she is enjoying it.

Oh I do hope the Rainbows continues as she is enjoying it. The pencil thing reminds me of my Nan, when she was growing up in Ireland she was left handed, the nuns forced her to use her right hand, this sounds barbaric to us now. The way Holly holds her pencil is not that different from the way they want her too either, its not as tho she is holding it in her fist, and I'm sure its not affecting her (very messy) handwriting.

She will only hold it as she is comfotable Mrs B; and no amount of changing will work untill she is older and the pen isnt as big in her little hand two of my Sons are left handed and had teachers trying to alter the way they held there pens and straightened their papers (it didnt work) My MI.L. is left handed and at school in England they kept making her change hands! the upshot is she isnt very good in either! she says she can use both but her writing was never very good. My Mum was taught by Nuns she never liked them untill the day she died they are apparently strickter than ordinarry teachers. Oh and seing Ive been working my fingers to the bone for the last three days and I now have a nerve trapped in my neck (excuses excuses) WERE having Pizza and salad.
