I have bought myself a Slow Cooker--so a going to have a 'Casserole' cooked in it, with Chump Chops and vegetables. The vegetables are Free because I have a lovely neighbour with an allotment and he brings me a 'Goody' bag with all sorts of vegetables-Lucky for me! Has anyone any recipes for Slow Cookers that they can recommend?

I use my Slo Cooker almost every night Biggy - I bought a book from Amazon - recommended by Aprilaydee - shall I look for the name
Dont forget, very important, that when you add liquid to anything in the cooker, it must be boiling
2nite I had, from my slow cooker, two chicken thighs, carrots and new pots - yog and tinned peaches

That would be handy to find a book on Amazon--If it isn't much trouble could you look for me? Thanks. Also that 'tip' about boiling water/stock if added is handy to know. I will let you know what the Chump Chops taste like--we are having them for dinner tomorrow.

We slow cook a gammon piece in ours sometimes and then have it with parsley sauce - delicious. We have the leftovers with our salad or sanwiches the next day.
I tend to stick to the usual casserole type meals in it but probably should have a look in our book for something different.

I should imagine it comes into its own when your cooking cheaper cuts of meat Biggs, or anything that tastes better done a long time! my youngest has just bought one as she is working she can put it on before she goes to work, Im afraid I like to cook quickly so have never had much use for one, Im looking at hallogen cookers I wouldnt mind ne of these to replace my microwave that is on its last legs!! anyone got one of these?

Burgers but we are trying some tinned fried onions - we are cooking 40 hot dogs on Friday night and the thought of peeling & chopping onions for that lot

I used to use dried onions in casseroles - they were very tasty - not sure if they will be as nice but saves a lot of time 2nite I had a cheese/sweetcorn pasta bake and half a packet of ginger nuts

We use dried onions when we go camping Jennywren and they are ok as you say. The tinned ones were a little bland as they were so I added some brown sugar and balsamic vinegar and they weren't bad. Prefer our own but they will do the job and save a lot of time and crying!

I am using my Slow Cooker this morning- I am going to the Hairdressers so it can do the dinner for me! Has anyone any recipes (which are easy and quick to prepare)? I bought an ebook from ebay 1001 slow cooker recipes, but I'm afraid I lost when the pooter crashed over christmas, It was American, so I didn't know what some of the ingredients were, but there was lots I would've done everything from baked spuds to cakes. I'm sure it was less than £3.00 to buy

Gammon cooked in there is delicious! Funny though, there is always a piece missing when I come to get it out.................guess who arrives home first? We are having gammon tonight, but steak - they had 2 in a pack & 2 packs for £5.50 in M&S and as we have 1 between us that will make 4 meals! Not bad. The others are in the freezer. We are having a courgette & tomato gratin with it.

I read (In the instruction Book) and Jenny reinded me also about the meat/Gammon has to be covered with Boiling Water---Is this essential or would just a little boiling water do? Getting the Gammon tomorrow also Chump Chops. You got a bargain with your Gammon Steaks at M&S -- Thanks Jenny for the reccommended Book from Amazon--I am ordering it today--

Am not sure if I would put water in with gammon as I like it crisp I would pour over a little oil and keep your eye on it - and on Low for just half a day
You will get used to it and what it will and wont do

Am doing a slow roast lamb in the Slo Cooker today
Biggy if you cook a large piece of meat it is a good idea to seal it first - YUM YUM or Num Num as Plocket would say
How is she - FB says she hasnt posted much recently
