It's good to get out into the garden Jasmine is'nt, especially if you've had visitors and not been able to. I've been doing a fair bit of deadheading the pansies to keep them going and checked the lillies to make sure there are no signs of the dreaded beetle. I was able to get the bulk of the gardening done the other day thankfully as it's been pouring rain here today

It is nice to get back out there and on with the jobs that need doing LG. We did sit in the garden while our friends were here which was nice but I was looking at all the things that needed doing. Sent them home with some Sussex primroses.

Oh how lovely of you, bet they were pleased. Today I potted up the seedling Geranium Splish Splash and an Eryngium which were kindly sent to me. I have my fingers crossed for them. I have tried without success and with great dissapointment to grow Eryngium.

Good luck LG . I like the look of geranium splish splash and it is a little challenge trying to grow your own plants from seed. I've not tried either of those. Yesterday I planted up some lilies, covered my potatoes which were about 10cm tall, dug up some more nettles and brambles and potted on some seedlings which were looking a little sorry for themselves in their fibre pots. The nice thing about growing in fibre pots is that the whole plant - pot and all - can be potted on.

Thanks Jasmine, time will tell. I've used fibre pots in the past too, they're handy and good although the ones I had were quite small.

All Ive managed to-day is to find some tall enough pots and steep them in soapy water Im going to transplant my leeks to-morrow Ive decided that the tomato boxes they are in arent deep enough that is why they are at a standstill!! Im getting desperate now these have got to go in the garden in about three weeks time pencil thickness or not.

That's great Karen! I've loads of sunflowers to pot on tomorrow, and toms. Sil gave me 2 broccoli seedlings today, I thought 'these need to go in asap' Put them in the wheelbarrow to harden off, I've sweet peas in there too. Popped into the GH for a second, come out and the hens had had the top off both plants Its a conspiracy, carrots, salad leaves, everything's going pear shaped!

I've been busy in the garden today, the weather was lovely. I've sown lots of seeds again as most of the others except for the toms peppers and courgette are now either outside in the mini greenhouse or on the window ledges. I dug up and removed a clematis which had gone all woody and was in any case in the wrong place. I've already got 2 year old cuttings from it so I've not lost it completly. I must say it's given me a good bit of room to sow more peas. Most of the pansies which were in pots over the winter are now in the borders as there's less chance of them drowning now winter is over. It's been a good day.

You were really busy yesterday LG. I started to plant the new border at the bottom of the garden. I'm quite pleased with the start I made. It's nice to see splashes of green down there instead of all the bare soil. I also planted some more sweetcorn as my first lot are looking really sorry for themselves. Think I planted them too early and the roots have run out of space. Must remember that for next year as this is the second year running this has happened.

JW sounds like you've had a great day, every time I sit down outside I see something that needs to be done and I'm up again. Jasmine, do you keep a little notebook of when you're sowing things? I'm keeping one quite well this year for the first time. I made a half hearted attempt at one last year but got side tracked.

Took out a small conifer tree around the pond and planted an elderberry black lace in its place, lovely looking shrub, it has lacey leaves similar to a japanese acer but is black. It flowers in June (havent witnessed that yet) and the flowers are pink and emit a lemon fragrance. You can use the fruit to make wine in autumn, (another passion of mine "wine" ). (Drinking it, not making it )

It's great to get outside is'nt it. Today turned out to be lovely so I cut the grass and tidied up the borders. I've turned the compost bin and composted some dead and lank californian bluebell leaves. I planted some summer bulbs for myself and my neighbour sparaxis, brodiaea and oxalis, they always look after the house for me when I'm away. I took some pics to update my garden thread as the sun was shining and it looked so lush.

LG --You have been busy in your garden--I am off to look at your up-date of your garden-- I haven't done much in the garden--just like JennyW enjoyed the sunshine --might not be out tomorrow!--Bigs
