Oh JW go and sow some outside where you want them to grow, it's worth a chance rather than having to resort to plugs. I sowed my spring ones straight into the ground a while ago and they're poking their head up. You do have time to get a good show if you get them in.

Do you grow many Sweetpeas? I find if I have no room for them in a small garden then an Obelisk type of frame makes a good display. You are so right the 'smell' of sweetpeas are lovely especially when you bring the 'cut' flowers into the house--it fills the room with their perfume---Bigs

Yesterday I was looking and saw that the sweetpea I planted out a while ago have settled into the ground really well and are starting their long climb upwards. The spring sown ones are shooting through well too.

Biggles I agree with you, I grew some in a big pot last year and had them by the front door. They did really well and the smell was delicious, Blacky I too love the smell and don't think it's summer without sweetpea.

Fb, they look so much better than canes! Do you always grow them like that?
What do you do to prepare the ground?
We got a hazel wigwam for ours last year, and had web address for hazel coppicing where they are going to sell the hazel and any goods made from it but they haven't put dates on there yet. I'll look it out later.

I always grow them like that BM,and i use the same sticks for 3 years. They are grown where i have lifted my spuds,so i dont dig anymore, just rake down, and sow

Yes they're just at that stage where they want something to start clinging onto FB, they'd not get better than those great sticks of yours. It'd take a right strong wind to blow those down. Looking geat as always FB.

They could get blown down this year LG,as its the 3rd year ive used them, and they tend to rot below ground level, and break,
