Over the past few weeks, I have been harvesting, Spinach, Lettuce, all of the Herbs, a few Courgettes with lots more coming ;D The Sweetcorn is really romping away, as are the Beans, Onions, Peppers, Chillies & Tomatoes. Have had a picking from the Strawberries (first year) and have had lots of Rhubarb from my Mum's garden. It's good this gardening business isn't it ;D

Wow, fc! You are doing very well! I am just starting to dig the new potatoes, pick the lettuce leaves and am picking the broad beans when they are tiny and sweet - just cos I can't wait for them to fill up anymore : You do feel Life is worthwhile when you can eat stuff you've grown yourself don't you? It's the simple joys and pleasures that are the best

Courgettes already? Wow.
My toms are certainly coming on nicely and the Broad Beans look good although not as many pods as the flowers promised.
Bulbs on the onions are beginning to show and the beetroots are looking good.

We've harvested the onion sets we put in in Nov, which is good considering Debi's cravings. I think we'll be pulling up some earlies next week and maybe there will be a few peas ready. We are not having much luck with our runner beans again this year. We try starting them of at home, but they disappear when we put them in, we try sowing in situ very few come up, even fewer last long. Still enjoying what we do get.

Bulbs on the onions are beginning to show and the beetroots are looking good. I am going to try to post a pic, have opened a photobucket account. These are the two Courgette plants today. The slugs have nibbled a leaf but so far have left the Courgettes alone. These are from my cameraphone so quality not marvellous. I forgot so say I have grown first early Potatoes in tubs and sacks this year for the first time. They are lovely, will definitely do it again. ;D

I watched The Good Life this morning, the one where they had to harvest the spuds, after a bad storm and with Tom's bad back. Still laugh at that one.

I have some old black plastic window boxes that I am using. Certainly got much better germination than I got in the ground. I'm growing courgettes in containers too but the slugs rather got to one of them.

I have some old black plastic window boxes that I am using. Certainly got much better germination than I got in the ground. I'm growing courgettes in containers too but the slugs rather got to one of them. I planted some courgette seeds in a huge tub a while ago and aslo planted some salad leaf seeds over the top. The salad leaves have all come up but no sign of the courgettes so then I planted a couple more courgette seeds in some small pots which came up straight away! The slugs got those though. Surely if slugs had eaten the cougettes in the huge pot they'd have had a go at the salad leaves too, which are completely intact? I also planted some sweetcorn in the huge pot and there's no sign of that either......very strange. Unless I planted them too deeply - there is no sign of any of them! Incidentally Mick I have 3 packets of salad leaf seeds which the children won by finishing their questionnaires when we went around Kew Gardens. I'm well impressed with them(and the kids!).
