CUTE! What a useful looking beak!
We've been watching fledgling Coal Tits today and they were really dinky too. Two tired skinny looking parents, and two fat and fluffy fledglings - the parents were so much more agile than the babies, but they were trying! I think it got a bit windy for them in the end because they flew off into the woods.

Aren't they sweeet? They really look like they're having a nice little chat to each other and they might be for all I know!

Do you have Waxwings too?
These guys (and gals) are snacking on a bowl of grape jelly! They do like they're having a good gossip don't they? LOL! You almost never see just one either. They are always in a group.

We sometimes see waxwings in the winter I think the last time was about 3 years ago and they are always in a group safety in numbers, but the last ones john photographed were a light grey colour he has probably deleted them by now, Ill have to have a nosey on his pooter sometime.

I *think* they get the characteristic solid orange rather than the speckles when they are around 5-6 months old. Next Spring all the Robins will have the solid orange. He's a baby! All babies are hungry all the time. Unless they're busy sleeping, peeing or pooping. C3D

He looks startled!!! And quite young too because he's still got the fluff on his head.

Wow, that's a wonderful looking bird. I love Birds of Prey - I know they're killing machines but they have such an air about them - very superior but beautiful.

Hi 4P. He's an immature Cooper's Hawk and was *very* intent on getting to the Cedar Tree that had lots of House Sparrows huddled in its branches. After I was able to get several photographs he left ... empty clawed ... this time.

Hey there Chicka DDD
Long time, no see. I hope I find you and Mike well and happy.
I haven't been participating in this board as much as I should have been but I'm trying to put that right ! I've just caught up with this thread and I'm absolutely loving yours & Mike's work as much as ever. Some of the pictures on here are just fantastic.
Cheers FA x

He was very obliging. Normally a Hawk sees me with a camera and they are gone! Birds normally only pose for Mike. The Hawk was too interested in getting a snack than in what I was up to. He let me take a bunch of photographs. Here's another of the same fellow:
