Very good. I'm impressed with your ability to choose bulbs, dearie. I stand there getting more and more greedy but more and more confused and usually just leave empty handed. Last year I got lots of bulbs very cheaply, very late in the season from Focus though. Which was nice.

I found this elsewhere, and thought some of us might have a go at it. seedypeople.co.uk/howitworks.aspxIts a site dedicated to swopping seeds that you may have in excess for seeds you might want.

Well I went out yesterday and got some Love-In-A-Mist seeds, 2 varieties 'Midnight Blue' (90cm ) and good old 'Miss Jekyll' (50cm) My passion for exotics remains tho...bought some more ensete ventriculosum seeds (the wet & cold summer killed off the plants I grew last year, I'll keep them indoors whilst they're young IF they germinate) and Silk Oak (Grevilla robusta)..apparently in Australia they grow to 50' but it's recommended that it's kept in a smallish pot here and grown as a conservatory plant....might try and Bonsai it... I also got some mooli seeds as I LOVE mooli in a stir fry...and 2 packets of mung bean seeds to grow beansprouts in jam jars... ;D

I love "love in a mist" too. Having you done any bonsai-ing before Cheery? I can't done any seed buying until we've sorted out the hedge at the bottom of the garden and erected a fence ....... : OH doesn't like spending money! ...my OH doesn't actually know... ;D I have done a Cheery form of Bonsai-ing The witch. I keep the tree in a small pot, trimming the roots every 2 years when I change the compost. I invariably kill them eventually

Succulents make excellent bonsai subjects. Money plants are good - take off the branches as they grow and keep to just one stem. When it's long enough let it branch but trim the branches back to shape from time to time. It's really easy.
Another good subject is Brachychiton which you can sometimes find in garden centres. They take to bonsai well.

Before I get started on the seed catalogues and websites....can anybody recommend some nice brightly coloured flowers for next spring? My current list for next year...
Cosmos Sensation Love in a Mist Miss Jekyl Love in a Mist Midnight Blue Mina lobata (climber) Gazania Kiss Bronze calendula neon Morning Glory Verbena Bonariensis Sunflower Velvet Queen Gomphocarpus Hairy Balls (snort!) dahlia Bishop's Children scabious Ace of Spades Cosmos Polidor delphinium chinensis 'Blue Butterfly
The above are all seeds I already have...I only have a small flower border but always manage to cram loads in...the colour mix is from white (cosmos) through pinks to mauves, purples and blues one end...with yellow, oranges and red the other. I also plant up quite a few pots although I cut back this year...I've prolly got enough. ;D I have loads of seeds so if anyone wants a share just pm me and I'll stick a few in the post.
Also...I invariably sow too early...do you as well...or are you all restrained and pent up..?

Mick is it Cacti only or are Aloes in it? I want the Aloes I saw on the site you posted in the Aloes thread Polyphylla, Aculeata, Broomii ,and Crosbys Prolific. They all have beautiful rosy colouring and I have to have them, dont I? ;D

No joy with Crosbys Prolific but I may be able to beg a piece from a fellow collector who has one. That would be lovely Crosbys Prolific turns out to be a no no. The website where I found it had exactly the same name as my fellow collector - but it wasn't him so I've drawn a blank there. I've checked all the European nurseries and it doesn't appear. It is probably in the States but they won't send. So - shall I definitely order polyphylla for you then?
