Yes thats true--although we dont seem to be bothered too much with Seagulls at the moment--they get too well fed on the Prom! Now Pigeons--they are a blooming nuisance--

;D They are a lovely looking bird arent they? have you noticed that the markins are slightly different? I wonder if they are male and female? the first one on the fence has a whiter throat than usual! I have been looking them up as I thought you had found a different species ;D but they are pied wagtail just individuals.

I have a male Blackbird who keeps coming for the raisins I put out, he's getting quiite tame. Bless him, how sweet. Did you know that blackbirds sing so loudly because originally they were woodland birds and had to to attract a mate and secure their territory, now they are seen in gardens, as we have taken their habitat, they continue to sing loudly.

I saw a strange one this morning. Lots of yellow but only caught a glance. Could have been some sort of finch.

I am not very good at identifying birds but it does sound very much like a Finch. Was it on its own or with other birds? I have a 'Bird Book' so will have a look to see if I can find out what it could have been.

I have hung a 'Fat Ball' out just outside the kitchen window (about 2 weeks ago) and not one bird has visited it yet--perhaps it is in the wrong place-

Could be Biggles, myabe try moving it somewhere else. Following advice from others, I've got little bits and pieces at different places in the garden. My 2 mistle thrush are now regular visitors as is the blackbird mr and mrs when they're not around to scare them off. I never knew birds were so territorial. I've also seen 2 little bluetits come and pince a seed or two and nibble at the fat ball.

I've nothing special in my garden really I love the wood pigeons and the coo coo they make I have quite an elaborate bird feeder that is really only meant for little birds but a blackbird has taken it over Even tho he (must be a MALE ) cant stand on any of the shelves he guards it with his life and shoos everyone away Now and again a crafty robin and brave sparrow have a feed when he isnt there

We had a chaffinch on one of the bird tables yesterday, he ignored the finch feeder. Haven't noticed him today but then we were out at 8 walking. And about an hour ago, I was in the garden and heard a familiar sound, looked up and there was a buzzard, flying very low. I called hubby and he followed the sound to the front of the house and there were 3 of them - 2 adults & a baby! Not bad for the town (although I would prefer to see them in the country). P.S. - Mr & Mrs. Chaffinch have just arrived!
