You're lovely, thanks Karen! I still don't know about the BBQ. I would really like to go. Things are a bit ticklish here at the moment. OH is being very odd, even for him...

I don't know yet Sleepy. I would really love to but, as I say, my OH is being very peculiar at the moment and I haven't even broached the subject yet! It's not for 3 weeks is it? He could be completely different by then - who knows? Are you going Karen? I shall feel really horrible if everyone is going but me!

I am FUMING!!! The groundsman is back and strimming a few feet away from all the kids playing - he's covered in protective clothing but the kids aren't! He really IS a thick pillock. And what's worse.....the Mum's are watching him waiting for ME to steam in! For heaven's sake! I toyed with the delicious idea that I could lower my sunglasses and sear him with my laser eyes but decided it might upset the children too much...... I went and complained VERY loudly to the Head who rushed out there to stop him. I shall expect her to complain to his boss and demand to see his certificates etc. I bet he hasn't got any.....hehehehee I shall have my revenge.....

I don't know whether it was him again or not. I didn't see the other one - or I'd have stopped him probably by hitting him very hard with a cricket bat .........if it was another one, the contractor obviously only employs thick pillocks. I still can't believe ANYONE would strim within a couple of feet of kids playing. It beggars belief. I intend to make a bit of a fuss about it I'm afraid. As a parent I think I entitled to. As an avenging protector of the world of wildlife - it's my bounden duty. So there.

I would have strimmed him off at the ankles, I disconnected a pipe on the back of a weedkiller drum at my sons nursery school, it was meant to pressurise it, and had only just been switched on, while they were scratching their heads I got the Headmaster out and explained to him about poisonous fumes in playgrounds, and how I would be getting the local papers and tv stations involved if they continued. Funnily enough there was a guy handweeding there the next day. The school was almost under Spagghetti junction as it was, you should have seen the inhalers lined up on the teachers desk every morning. I got him out of there fast, believe me!

I've just sent a really snotty email to the man in charge of grounds maintenance demanding proof of their competence as I am worried about the childrens saftey. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes etc etc......teehee
Respect to you, Colonel Sweetleaf, Defender of Children's Health and Lungs. Quite right. Well done. Hear hear.

Why not send a letter the conventional way then 4P, with a copy to the school governors? The governors are ultimately responsible for the childrens safety.

It's OK! I've just had a long conversation with the man in charge of the thick pillocks. He has arranged for the plug plants to be replaced, he's apologised profusely for the groundsman (said he's not very bright and has now been told that he is not going to schools anymore) and has arranged to meet me in September at school to walk round with me and work out a programme that will help us rather than hinder us. He was very interested in my plans and says his department might be able to help as well with stuff like leaf bins. I call that a good result!
