Here's what the thick pillocks have done....... This is what it looked like before - all the flowers coming through and just starting to flower....it still really upsets me.... To the left of the concrete pad was where the infants planted most of the plant plugs - looked how they've shaved it

It's really wrecked isn't it? To be honest, I'm finding it quite hard to get motivated again. I thought things were going so well. This morning I found out that the builder doing the hard landscaping around the GH's site has pulled out. This means I can't put up the raised beds, can't buy any plants and can't get anything sorted in time for the long break. We are running out of time too as the grant has to be spent by July 6th.......at least the new fruit trees are getting well watered........just at the moment I feel like everything I try fails miserably.

Ring the local paper get them to write a story with an appeal for a builder, you can persuade them, dear you are good with words, and if you look at it this way its a great local colour/human interest story for them ! Give it a go, it cant hurt.

Oh, I'm not beaten but just a bit crushed.... Now I shall have to do all the grass removing again and try and see how many plants I can save. The fact that they cut all the hedges down too - I do hope nothing was nesting in them. And ALL my foxgloves.....what I don't understand is why leave that manky little bit of Dock? Still I have no idea how thick pillocks minds work - no point in trying to see any logic. I might try the local paper - good idea. We have to be sooo bloody PC and "good" though cos it's a Church school - they may not like the idea of upsetting the apple cart. Very very conservative... I will rise from the ashes though and start again. In a while.....

you can do it! hink of the end result, and you can take this opp. to do any tweaking, you may have had in mind before the thick pollocks did thier damage. Sweeties idea of going to the papers is something worth thinking about too.

I hope you can find more plants than you think alive and it's not as ruined as you thought! I still will never believe this could happen!! I like SL's idea of a story in the local, no make it a national paper. Just remember to keep your spirits up, things are sent to try us! Keith

The Head has no noed the idea of newspapers - I thought she would. We have to clear everything with the Church authorities and she's fairly certain they wouldn't even like us telling the world about the work we're doing, never mind something negative. I have no idea why! Seems a bit daft to me. Never mind, I have other irons in the fire now! Let you know if anything comes of them.....

I have my merry band of 4/5 other Mums. They are the backbone of the PTA too. And most of the dinner ladies....that school would cease to function without them! I cannot understand why other parents can't be bothered to do stuff at their children's school. Most odd.

Just shown Jennifer the pics and she is horrified too.
Hope you get it sorted.
I did some work at one of Craig's old schools and really enjoyed it, (even if I was the only man there) but sadly we haven't stayed long enough in various houses since to get involved again. Hopefully will do here. I missed one garden day recently, as we were away when it was on, but when they want more help I am going to join in.

I cannot understand why other parents can't be bothered to do stuff at their children's school. Most odd. 4P, if I knew that the PTA's in my children's schools were run by people like you I'd have no problem in pitching in - they are always asking for more help. Unfortunately unlike your band of helpers they do themselves an injustice by being coming over as very bitchy and very cliquey so it's put me and no doubt loads of others off investigating further. It's a real shame. If they really need more people to help they should make it an attractive prospect. Even if the Head won't allow the papers to get their hands on the story and you don't want to make too many waves maybe you should mention to her something that Keith said - it's ILLEGAL to disturb nesting birds with no exceptions. Maybe that'll give her something to think about. Isn't it down to the Governors to decide whether a story can be published and not the Head? Or are they very Churchy too? Anyhow the whole situation should be taken up with the Board of Governors - you need somebody's absolute reassurance that the garden won't be touched again. And you could always threaten whoever you need to threaten with telling O F S T E D.

Morning Debbie! Finished that essay yet...? I know exactly what you mean about "cliqueyness", I was only talking to another Mum about it the other day - we are thinking of starting "the Other PTA" cos I think that might be partly the trouble at our school. We have a very domineering Chairwoman who doesn't react well to innovation (I could call it something else but it's best to stay polite ) and she has been there for years. She's one of the older Mums too which I think also puts off the new Mums (a lot of whom are my eldest daughter's age). She won't resign though! We are planning a coup soon and then things will be different! I would like to be much more proactive - I did a series of posters based on the "Your country needs you" - but she wouldn't use them as she said they were too aggressive ..........you have to get out there and persuade/drag the parents in or nothing will ever change. We have already decided to hold the next PTA meeting in the local pub ( that went down like a turd in a water shortage). We are going to take over the school notice board at the gate soon too........... Karen, I would LOVE some of your Foxgloves! That is a very kind offer - thank you. Maybe you could bring them to our Barnsdale meet up?

Hi 4P, yes I can pronounce the essay well and truly finished! I've added a bit more to my 'essay' above - OFSTED's always something that sends a shudder through every Head I think, and they always seemed to be concerned with parent-school realtionships. Razing the garden will send their antennae a-flickering.

You're doing everything you possibly can to recruit more parents into the PTA 4P - I think the idea of dragging a few parents in is great - it would work for me, honestly it would. If I got pressganged in then I would know that I was well and truly 'needed'. I do do my bit though in sending things in, providing this and that, making this and that, making sure all monies and forms are in on time, etc etc but it's when they ask for parents to come in and help that the little voice inside goes' eeeek no!'.

I quite enjoy it though. It's fun at the little fairs etc - the kids love all the face painting and art stuff we do. And they're worse than the adults at the cakes/books/tombloa etc tables! I shall have to wait for any developements with the thick pillocks I expect. I dunno if the governors would get involved really. You mustn't get too OTT at our school - not very PC or Christian is it?

I suppose being in the PTA and being involved in the school you have to keep on the right side of everyone, on the other hand, the thick pillocks created such a mega upset to your efforts and those of the children, I would think that you'd be entitled to read the riot act, at least a bit!

I'm afraid my natural reaction was violent and fairly profane - but then I'm not a Christian.......I don't know any better! Even after time for consideration it's still the same...but with implements!

Good for you! If you hadn't reacted, by now you'd be saying, 'I wish I'd said this, I wish I'd said that' etc - you got it all out in the open, you can't bottle that lot up!
