Ohhh he must be keen 'cause you treat him mean! Dreaming up weekend decorating projects and giving him the poorest sunflowers, making him wear nettle underpants!

Can I put one of my old mans in? It's from years back though. If so I'll have to find the negative and scan it.

I really love the dark red/maroon ones FC. I grow some every year. Mine haven't been so good this year - too wet and windy....despite being staked a lot of them have snapped recently....bummer..... Never mind, when they've fallen over, at least you get a chance to see a close up of the amazing flower heads....

Well, my school report for these 'could do better!' Not very tall, not even that tall but they looked pretty. Plan B was some here at work, carefully attached to the lamp post in the car park (there are flower beds around them). They were about 5' but the planter is 2' high . But the men did comment on how lovely they were and the little birds were flitting about the car park (not much for them round here really). Roll on next year! Can you tell me your secrets now please?

No secrets to impart Myrtle other than buying a tall variety and starting them off indoors in February or March. ;D They were The witch - I read the packet instructions, the seeds obviously didn't ;D Or is it because they saw me and thought she is short, we had better not grow too tall or she won't see us!

Can you tell me your secrets now please? The only tip I can give is lots of well rotted manure. When my daughter was in Primary School, they had a sunflower seed to plant at home. My daughter's did well but her friend who's Mum had filled raised beds with WRM grew to 15' plus.
