I saw a most beautiful green flowering small rose in a GC yesterday and I'm regretting not buying it! It had no label and the staff didn't seem to have a clue. PLEASE do you know of it? Thanks!

Oh 4P, why didn't you buy it!? That happens to me so regulary that if I see a plant I like and have the money, I buy it. Work out where it will go, when I get back!! Hence my name!! Note the 'and have the money' as 9 times out of 10 I don't! Could you go back tomorrow/weekend and see if it is still there? I hate those feelings, when I see something and say no I won't bother, this time. I did that at an antiques fair once with a nice whisky barrel ornament. I said no, but have never seen one like it again!

I came up with the same one as The witch, 4P, the Rosa Odorata Viridiflora. Still, any excuse to get my mucky book out, you know, the RHS Encyclopaedia. Surely they have more than one in the GC?

That's not my Rose sadly - the flowers on mine were definitely rose like. I don't know much about roses but they were like little chintz roses. I'm so annoyed at myself for not buying it! I went to a Wyevales GC this morning (just happened to pass one) to see if they had it and the rose expert I was directed to called green flowered roses "an abomination" so I knew I picked the wrong place........ I shall HAVE to go all the way back there and , what do you bet, they'll have sold out.......? Thanks for looking though, you're both so kind!

Has anyone got a Rose Expert? I was at a G/C yesterday and looked inside it for this. There was a green one called Greensleeves (I think, forgot to have pen/paper with me) but when I got home, typed it in and what came up was a pink one!! I am probably going back out today to get more digging in stuff, so if nobody responds, will re check it's name!

I've got the Rose Expert 1981 edition, which cost 2.65! Had a flick through but there aren't any green roses in that one at all - I think rose cultivation has gone a long way since this one was printed! Sorry, no help whatsoever.

Oh well maybe it is in a more recent one. I just had a quick check under 'green' in the index and then found the page it corresponded to. Don't like standing reading books in shops for too long! Thanks for looking, Mrs Beige!

When I searched Greensleeves I found this. It does actually mention the rose, but shows a picture of a pink one! Keith

I have just read The witch's reply with links and she has already mentioned the green rose. - Sorry. Strange, it looks like you'll have to go back and read the book again. Don't take too much money with you or you might come back with more than you intended.

Don't take too much money with you or you might come back with more than you intended. No, I was very good yesterday, honest. Went for some canes for my peas and only bought canes!! When my wife phoned from Poland last night, she said, come on what else did you buy? I didn't and have a receipt to prove it, I said!! That's a first came the reply! Maybe my name isn't appropriate anymore. Have I stopped being mad on plants now or was it just a blip? Keith

Very definitely a blip, Keith. It's just one of those 'calms', a stage of metamorphosis out of which you'll emerge as 'Evenmadderonplants'.

I just spoke to the GC and the lady has promised to save me a rose...I'm not convinced though as she didn't even check if there were any left and she was very very foreign...I DO hope she understood me! If I manage to get one I will post a picture and then you'll all see why I'm going on

It's disgusting...
No seriously, it's lovely and I'm not a big rose fan. It looks like Greensleeves.
Oh it definately was a blip, I went to a G/C today to look at BBQ's and came out with a plant as well as some digging in stuff!!
