Is anyone's Lady's Mantle doing anything yet? I moved both of ours during the wimter and neither is showing any sign of life yet. I know they're tough as old boots but I'm worried that they've both passed on......

Thanks The witch, not to worry. I can't believe that they've both gone to meet their maker, just a bit late showing up maybe.

One's arrived - a tiny leaf with a sparkling drop of water on it. Phew! Now to keep an eye on the empty space where the other one should be.

I treated us to one (it sounds better than I treated 'myself'!) last week it's really small and is squashed in between 2 euphorbias at the front of the border....I have never grown it before and must admit that the main attraction is the name!!

That's odd, isn't it? You'd think this really wet weather would be right up their street......some plants are just contrary.

My survivor out of the two has grown, but it's all very half-hearted too and not what I would have expected either.

There are better Alchemilla than A. mollis and they are far less invasive. Look out for A. alpina or A erythropoda especially. I believe that A. faroensis is rather nice too, but I have not got that one.

Oooh Im off for a google then, I want to see these plants. Thanks Owdboggy I really like the look of A Erythropoda and like the idea that the spent flowers turn reddish, very nice.

This is Alchemilla alpina. Apparently it grows wild in mountainous areas. We had some in our garden but it got lost during the building work

Thanks. I think mine is A. alpina then, the picture does not really show the whitish edge to the leaf, but it is there.
