I bought a clematis but I want it to grow a bit so Ive potted it up and waiting a bit. I wish I'd done that, I bought a clem and a mock orange blossom, cheap from morrisons last summer, they've both gone. I spotted some thing that looks like a clem (but not where I put the clem) when I was doing the roses today : I have a mock orange Em in clay soil - it thrives well and the scent is awesome - it hasnt spread outwards either - there is also another variety - the name escapes me - and is a sort of dwarf variety - I have one of those too but it doesnt do too well in the clay soil Have three Hellebores out at the moment including the black one but I wish they wouldnt hang their pretty little heads down

I ordered some seeds of Hellebore Betty Rannicar off the internet yesterday. Saw a picture of one in a recent gardening magazine (it is a double cream coloured hellebore) and wanted one for my garden. Could only find it for about £12 plus p+p on the internet and have seen nothing like it in any of our GC's. Anyway, thought it would be interesting to try and grow my own - don't know how easy that is going to be but we shall see. Is the little mock orange you are thinking of p. manteau d'hermine Jenny?

Mine's doing quite well, at the mo. It is in a pot because I had to dig it back up after finding out it didn't grow as tall as I was expecting it to. It will have a new spot at the bottom of the garden when I get started down there...after I finish with the nettles and brambles.

Oh, there'll still be plenty for them even after I've finished my patch. The horses' field at the bottom of the garden is covered in them and horses don't eat nettles!
