Another lovely hour of GW - they are so much better then the 30 minute ones. I do like Sarah Raven but why does she always look as if she's just walked off the pages of Country Living or similar? Did you see her flower arrangement on the steps of her shepherd's hut? They cost over £10.000 did you know??? Why not put her flowers on the ordinary table of an ordinary house - you know the ones with piles of newspapers, books, old letters and kids school stuff!

I enjoyed it too...especially the mad bloke with his palm seeds ;D. I don't feel such a wazock now...... I agree about the 'Homes and Gardens' approach to flower arranging... but it must be said that she really does know her stuff (imo) and I love the way she uses flowers that I'd never have thought of plopping in a vase ...she's given me lots of ideas for summer flower arrangements. It may sound daft but I LOVE putting a vase of flowers in the gazebo... it looks dead cool.....

I haven't heard that expression for years. ;D ;D I enjoyed GW this week too although I didn't hear all of it cause the kids kept talking. : I must admit that sara Raven's dress sense is a bit strange but I like the way she does her flower arrangements, but again I missed this weeks for some reason. :

I quite like some of her clothes...I like the way she wears what SHE wants and not the usual jeans and jumper most people do...and I'm a big fan of linen.....which she obviously is as well....(makes my sister's ironing finger itch just thinking about it....)

I like her clothes a lot and if I was rich, thin and 5'6" I would wear clothes like her but I just think it's quite comical how everything is so very very "naice" but I'm not being nasty - I think she's a very good gardener!

Oh heck maybe I should explain. - When I said her dress sense is strange I suppose I was thinking that I couldn't wear them in the garden, I would get tangled up in all those layers ;D and it would drive me mad. ( I even tie my hair back because it tickles my face.) - Cheery i'm afraid I am a jeans and jumper/tshirt girl. :

Isnt she old fashioned? well I think she is! I keep expecting her to bend down and we will see her stocking tops no admit it you couldnt do any serious gardening in a skirt or dress, I cant even do my housework in a skirt I cant get down to it.

She is very old for her age I think, but I also think she pushes that image just a tad, like Monty does with his braces, it just makes them stand out a bit. I love my jeans and Tshirts and a fleece if it gets cold, its so practical.

Wasn't it LOVELY to see Sarah Raven extolling the virtues of herbs? I DO like her! BUT why did Carol plant Pineapple sage in a permanent container - it's a tender perennial and would NEVER survive a winter outside.........unless I nodded off (very possible) she didn't mention taking it indoors in Autumn. It's a fantastic plant and even I can smell it, its scent is so strong but it IS tender. I wanted scratch'n sniff telly! I love herbs...
And it's a bit weird seeing and hearing Geoff Hamilton's son isn't it? He's sooo much like his wonderful father. Why don't we arrange an AF visit to Barnsdale? Wouldn't it be nice for all/some/any of us to spend the day there?

I spent the evening in my sons room doing archaeology (the different strata are very educational in a teenage boys room you know.)

I spent the evening in my sons room doing archaeology (the different strata are very educational in a teenage boys room you know.) Sounds a bit yucky to me! Smallest has only had 7 years to create new rock formations and fossils....that's bad enough! I just posted to say how much I liked the programme on the Beeb (with our link). Do you think I'll get reported again?

Last night's prog was a bit short...prompted me to start planting my bulbs anyway...I've put some daffs in...never had much time for them before but they were free after I'd bought some anemone bubs....couldn't turn them down really....I was going to plant them in pots and sink them into the ground...but I just couldn't be a*sed....I just know that I'll love them initially then get bored when they get all untidy after flowering....
