It will make quite a decent little clump. It came off when I was repotting mine last Sunday.
I have a soft spot (and the odd painful one) for Agaves as they can make very handsome, almost sculpted, pot plants. Don't be put off by the spines (said he,airily).

How do you use the cat litter Mick does it have to be mixed with compost or used dry or what? I think the Agave is cute by the way,and not dangerous like some Ive looked at! How big will it get, eventually? Thank you for sending it.

My clump is about 6" by 6".
On the cat litter, use it neat and just moisten (so I am told - I am just going to try it myself this weekend) and put in propagator.

As soon as it got the tiniest bit of water it resembled potting clay, I tipped it out and started again, putting even less water and it stayed granular, Im a bit doubtful, to say the least.

Chance would be a fine thing Ali, I have to move the boundary fence between front and back gardens first and theres a lot of OH`s junk to get rid of to make way for that... He wont let me order a skip, doesnt trust me not to chuck away something he wants, so he says hes going to take it to the tip bit by bit.....seems like it will take a while, then.

Thats a shame. Sounds like my OH, everything takes forever when it's something that I want doing. - Could you start sorting it into piles or something maybe that would spur him on.

I think with my OH if he feels pressured he digs his heels in,but I may order a skip anyway, and present him with a fait accompli ...if its paid for, hell fill it to the brim!

SL, we may have the wrong stuff. Apparently it should be Tesco Premium LIGHTWEIGHT cat litter which is a different compostion entirely and apparently you can water it with no problem of sticking together.
Also, Seramis is just as good but I can never find it.

I thank you kind sir, but I dont want you to feel guilty, the cat litter was really cheap you know. I have seen Seramis and special cacti compost at Homebase. ;D

Don't get the cactus compost SL. Not very good. Much better to make your own and I will be imparting the knowledge at the end of the month on GWD.
You can certainly use the Seramis though. I will have a look in my local Homebase.

Got the cat litter SL. Was yours a sort of grey colour? Mine is brown like Seramis.

Yes its pure clay, not the best thing for cacti then. I will fix that situation in a minute or two.

I have mixed some seed compost with the tiniest bit of vermiculite (all I had left ) and potted the Aloe into that for now, will that be ok?

That should be OK. It's pretty small after all so it will be in a small pot (I presume). Don't water it for a week or two though.
