Can do, but I hope we'll be meeting up before then, and then they could be planted in time for the BBQ

Did you like the little Avonia? Looks like a cross between a bird dropping and a little white worm.
But I love it.

It looks like a flower head to me, before the tight little buds open.......its all in the perspective you know. How big does it get? Is this an offset?

No, it's a seedling. It will always be a tiny plant.

The forecast here is sunny periods for the next 5 days. Time to give the cacti a sprinkle.

Thanks Mick! Ill have to make sure no-one gets near them again. So annoying when youve gone to the trouble of making sure you have them all named, to find you havent!

Bit of a bu66er.
When I took my plants to Kew last year I was allowed to wander where I wished and take any cuttings I fancied. When I left they gave me a form and asked me to complete and list what I had and send it back "no hurry". Well, I only did it last week (because I want to go up there and repeat it next week!) but they e-mailed me yesterday to the effect that I have to return 3 of the plants which I shouldn't have! At least they did apologise and admit it was all their fault. The reasons aren't clear but 2 of the plants were originally donated and perhaps the donors stipulated that they couldn't go outside Kew.
I don't mind but they are 2 of the plants from the family that I am helping Kew to rebuild because of their self confessed inability to grow. This has come from the new head of Dry Tropics and I think its a bit "jobsworth". One, Echidnopsis repens was a tiny cutting which I have very carefully nurtured and is now about 2" long. C'est la vie.

What an ungrateful lot! They should be happy to let you do what they seem incapable of. I hope they can compensate you for the time and care you take, perhaps with more plants? :

I am waiting on an e-mail from them to that effect.

Lets hope it comes then. I hope this attitude doesnt spoil your relationship with Kew, it doesnt sound very positive to demand the return of cuttings when you are only helping them anyway.

Never heard from Kew but it's not that unusual. Communication isn't their strong point. I am still going up there tomorrow so I'll let you know how I get on.
How are all the plants/cuttings SL?

They seem to be doing well, most of the recent batch are still in the prop, and I`m trying to get the watering right, some are rooting, some are not. I dont think I shall fail, though not with all the attention they get.
