Ellis Island.
It's a book I bought in New York. It's about the early immigrants to America. Ellis Island is the place they all were processed before being allowed in.
Conditions in the early part of the 20th century were pretty awful and the journeys to get to America were horrendous.

You can only go round the statue (not in or on it) which makes it pretty boring but the Museum is open and is fantastic.

Sad I know, but i've just finished Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows!
I read it all in just over a day and I couldn't put it down! It was fantastic! I feel that I want more tho, it's left me hungry for more, but then i suppose that's what a good book should do.

Why is it sad?? I LOVE the whole series and really enjoyed reading them - I cried in some bits too! I am quite happy to tell anyone that I think they're brilliant books! I don't understand why there is this attitude that they are only children's books. A good book is a good book, no matter who the intended audience I think.
Btw, how are you feeling now Debi? Has your morning sickness stopped now?

Ive read them all, my excuse at first was that I wanted to see if they were suitable for my son, later I stopped pretending, and just bought them for me, he had to wait till Id read them before he got his hands on them. ;D

I think I'll have to start from the beginning, Emsey said she'd loan me them, I'd only watched the films and I now reaise how much I've missed not reading them from the start. I started on The Half Blood Prince which is the one that's coming out this year, ( I'm one of those who likes to watch a film with someone who's already seen it then I can ask what's gonna happen next. ) So as to get a head start, and once I'd finished that I was itching to read the last book! I can see whyy they want to make two films out of the book! I can't see how they're gonna be able to keep them child friendly for the silver screen, so much blood shed!

It did get a bit gruesome in places didnt it? ;D I heard she had decided to write no more, then I heard she was going to write for adults... I hope she doesnt retire, she is an example to all those who think they are on the scrap heap of life, she wrote the first one on income support, as a single mum, now she is a millionairess! ;D

Maybe that will be printed?

Emsey has kindly lent me the first 4 Harry Potters which I am now on the third one. I'm really enjoying them, the films seem to miss a bit out, but I suppose they can't fit all the details in the books into 2 1/2 hours of motion picture!

I have now finished all the harry potter's, and I'm now gonna have a go at the Chronicles of Narnia. I read a couple when I was younger, but now they've got Prince caspian coming out I thought I'd give them a whirl.

I started to read a gripping novel last night, I cant put it down. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Its about a 14 year old girl who was brutally murdered in the 70's she is looking down on the world her family, and watching how their lives have been affected by her death. She is in her own version of heaven. I just need to know what happens next, will her killer be bought to justice, will anybody ever know who he was? Brilliantly written, very disturbing, yet compelling.

That sounds very different if dusturbing emsey! I'm not reading a book at the moment - I had a book of 400 sudoku puzzles for my birthday and I am working my way through that! I do a few each night. I am going to start 'The Jigsaw Man' by Paul Britton, it is his autobiography and he is a forensic psychologist. He has worked on quite a few high profile cases throughout his career.

Thats the story Maggy, Lucky is by Alice Sebold too. I've never been able to get into Jackie Collins, I read loads of Jilly Cooper books and all of Cathyrine Cooksons Books in the past.

Have you read any of Sidney Sheldons? Bloodline and The Other Side of Midnight were good and a bit different.
