This is another 'Local Scene' not far from where I live- Painted in Oils-size approx 30"x20". It is a bit blurry because I have tried to reduce the size of the photograph to Post on here-- will try again and see if I have better luck!

That's lovely and you have got the tones and colours of Whitby down to a T. for anyone that doesn't know it, its where Captain James Cook the Navigator sailed from.

That painting Of Whitby took me 6months to complete and about another 3months to 'dry' before I could varnish it! but it was worth all the effort-- If anyone is interested I could Post some more Landscapes but before I do lets have a few more from our other Atrists on Board-- I only wish I could Paint or Draw Flowers--Bigs

This painting is of one of the many Surfers who use the stretch of our coastline-- It is framed so you can just 'see' the edge of the frame 'top right hand corner.'

That's lovely and you have got the tones and colours of Whitby down to a T. for anyone that doesn't know it, its where Captain James Cook the Navigator sailed from. It was he who discovered New Zealand and his first landing place was Turanganui A Kiwa, what we now call Gisborne! BTW, lovely paintings Biggles you have a really neat eye for capturing the moment!

Thanks Roan for your kind comments-- Maggyd-- Nice idea an exhibition-- Our Art Group used to hold an 'exhibition day' and we sold a few Paintings--but now there are only about four of us left in the group. We have disbanded because the cost of hiring the room had increased and we just couldn't afford what they were asking for the rent for one afternoon a week which is a shame. Our Local Community Hall sometimes hold exhibitions and Artists can submit a couple of paintings--I can't compete with Professionals-- I find Painting a relaxing hobby and if only one painting gets sold then it helps towards the cost of materials-- I have tried Acrylics but am not very taken with them--they dry too fast for me--but then I am a slow Painter- ;D

Two completely contrasting paintings-- The first one is of a Blacksmith at 'work' I sketched him ( and then Painted when I got back home) while he was working at the "Rural Museum" which is fairly close to where I live- I wouldn't get top marks for Perspective--- Below is just one I did 'off the top of my head' it is of no where in particular--but thought I would try out Oranges/Reds and Black of a Sunset - Heres hoping other members will 'Post' some of their paintings otherwise I will feel that I am 'Hogging' the Art thread--(which I am doing at the moment) but am delighted to do so.--Bigs
