NO?! Well, how very enterprising! It sounds like some sort of incredibly obscure modern art installation......if you suggested that to some Arts Council committee they'd prolly give you lots of money to do it! And then make a video of it..........

It sounds like some sort of incredibly obscure modern art installation......if you suggested that to some Arts Council committee they'd prolly give you lots of money to do it! And then make a video of it.......... There are piercings and chains involved too, very modern and done in the new trendy way with lots of spikey bits. Looks deadly. Its all displayed in shop windows too for all to see, like a catalogue of pain. Mind you there are worse windows, and OH was laughing like a drain as we trotted (at speed) past those!

Its amazingly civilised and clean though, everywhere you look are these beautiful buildings, bridges (and canals obviously) And the bikes, everyone seems to use them, and they all seem so identical! Although some are decorated with flowers, you wonder how anyone could know which was theirs. Its a really gorgeous city even though it has its seamy side. I thoroughly recommend it for a short break.

I have just the one tattoo. It's the eye of Ra, surrounded by a fantasy sun. I have a pic somewhere, hang on... Ah, here it is: I have it on my back in between my shoulder blades ;D

Ah, here it is: I have it on my back in between my shoulder blades ;D Does it have a special significance Goth? The eye of Ra I mean? Wasnt he supposed to be torn apart by crocodiles every sunset and put back together by his wife by dawn? Or was that Osiris? I do get mixed up with my Egyptian Sun Deities :

Does it have a special significance Goth? The eye of Ra I mean? Ra himself, no. I've always loved the eye of Ra and the sun and when I saw this design that included both images, it just appealed to me I don't think that's Ra. I know that Sobek was the Egyptian god of crocodiles and Horus supposedly turned into a crocodile to collect Osiris' body bits out of the river Other than that, I have no clue

It was Osiris..originally a pharoh (according to myth) until he was murdered and chopped up by Seth...and Isis located ALL the bits... ;D and managed to conceive a child...Horus (who had a falcon's head)
Ra (also known as Re which is ancient Egyptian for 'Sun') is also often depicted as a falcon headed god...but also as 'The Eye of Re'
I used to want to be an Egyptologist ;D

I fell for the Myths and legends, then looked further to how they related to actual history. Thanks for the correction! ;D I do have books...... somewhere : but I think they may have been "lofted" during the building work.

I was sure that I'd be an Egyptologist...from when I was 9 years old...until I was about 16.
I talked to my headmaster about taking the entrance exam for Girton College...he basically said that he wouldn't allow it. I wasn't particularly bright and he wasn't going to risk the school's reputation on a thicko.
I never liked that man. ;D
I'd been along to Girton's open day (sent by the school actually..I didn't ask to go) and really liked it there...fitted in well and had been chatting to the lecturers who basically told me to go for it!. Our headmaster was a history graduate ....and my grades just didn't impress him one little bit. I think that what he SHOULD have done was give me some guidance...maybe arrange some extra tuition...I was so passionate about the subject..but he knocked the wind out of my sails and I don't think that I ever really recovered.
So when Mum said to forget about university altogether, as there was no way that they'd be able to afford for me to go...that was it really. I'm so lucky to have had opportunities in education as an adult...but had to choose a subject that fitted in with a family and offered a reasonably secure career. No regrets tho (ooh does she sound bitter?)

I wasnt even allowed the sixth year at school.... basically told to get a job, we can be bitter together dear!
