I have a lovely embroidered pic in the hall I bought at a boot sale, I'd say it was done in the 30's and it very Clarice cliff, simple lines. trees and a cottage on an array of patchwork hills! It was a real bargain, I love it, the lovely square shape, the faded old frame and the pretty colors, the best thing I've ever got from a boot sale.

All hand made. I also collect old laboratory glass. I have a dessicater, a very large spherical flask, half a dozen measuring cylinders, and some bottles. I also have an old pH meter made by Cambridge Instruments. A bit like this one I also collect babycham glasses. The bulk standard ones I use in the summer for the ladies at the BBQs. I have 3 special edition ones which I believe were company promos. And I also collect Science Fiction pulp magazines from the 1950s. Well, one in particular. Astounding Science Fiction, edited by John W Campbell. Many of my favourite authors started their careers wring in them: Issac Asimov, Robert Heinlein, A E Van Vogt, L Ron Hubbard, etc. www.andrew-may.com/asf/I have around 12 issues. Not many I know, but they are very scarce.

He bought a house with separate converted stables over 2 floors in which he houses his collection. That is now too small and he has rented commercial premises on a nearby industrial estate.

I have 2 boxes of old Spiderman comics (all English so not worth any money) from low single numbers to about No 300 and something. I bought 'em every week when I was a student (in those days students were given money to study...). I love them.....smallest will be allowed to read them when she's older ( about 35). I love Marvel comics.... I had loads of the original US Superman comics when I was a kid but my dear mother gave them to the boy next door when I wasn't looking...now they would be worth a LOT now.....and he's a filthy rich dentist....is that fair? I can't see the point in collecting stuff that just sits in warehouses....you have to love the things you collect don't you?

That reminds me. My wife had a Horby train set when she was little. She loved it. When she wasn't looking her parents gave it to another child in the village and it really upset her. She never forgot. A train set was the last present I ever bought her.

I have a small collection of childrens books from the 30`s onwards, some of the illustrations are quite stunning and some of the authors of the stories became very famous. My favourite though, is a Teddy Tail annual, so innocent and sweet those books are, I love them. I also collect Japanese porcelain and stoneware, I lust after china with flowers on it generally, and like tiny little things, miniature vases etc. I have two Victorian washbasin and Ewer sets, one damaged but older than the other, and still pretty. Im very fond those, and keep one on an Oak Wash hand stand in my bedroom. Oh, and I love Oak furniture.
My best boot sale purchase was an "antique" sewing machine..... Ive posted a pic of it in the past.

Who has told you to declutter, Maggyd? Fashion, NOT to have ornaments, Jennifer and I live in the dark ages then!! Why are there so many antique programmes on the box nowadays, if antiques/ornaments were not fashionable anymore? Keith

And anyway, you only have to look in those 'fashionable' houses, with their snazzy stylish furniture and minimalist decoration to see they don't look anything like a home and are completely without personality. Cold, stark and industrial looking - who wants to live in them then? Give me the lovely clutter and family memorabilia anyday! (Although it would be nice to walk round without stepping on a Barbie doll or kicking a pile of papers everywhere...)

I'm defiantly not a minimalist, I prefer to call my style shabby chic! Its all the range, 30's fifties, scruffy floral, textures, colors all mis-matched and thrown together, thats my house! There a massive toy box in my living room too, but there's Hadley ever any toys in it, they're all over the House!

If I found one of them here, I would be worried! Minimalist are for those that are starting out, as everyone collects clutter don't they? Keith

Its nice to know ;D we ALL seem to have the same ideas and ideals on here when I go to my daughter : everything is like a showhouse! nothing out of place ! one ornament on the end of the mantelpiece but its not just her! my new S.I.L when we visited her last week is the same, its her second marriage she is the same age as me! but she informed me that she doesn't like clutter and lots of photo,s and pictures : knowing exactly what our home is like.

I've recentley started collecting Angels and Cherubs, I've got about 6 now, all quite small, I used to collect the Piggin' Pigs, I've got about 5 of those, all the really old ones, I didn't like them once they started making them too cartoony, all bulging eyes!
I've started collecting lots of bits of Yorkie things to in honor of my Charlie.

Would you like some molehills to add authenticity Elsie? I have many many many of the things all over my garden - we rarely see a mole (one dead one once) but they are very busy underground. Bless them.................. X
