I've just caught my cat munching on one of my spider plants. My first question is, will it poison her? (I doubt it will but want to check!). My second question is, how do I stop her from doing it?
Thanks!

Spray the leaf ends with a bit of perfume or air freshener - cats hate chemicals! I don't know about whether it will hurt your cat but I doubt it too.

I'm not wasting my only two perfumes on my cat 4P but I appreciate the idea. I don't use air freshners but I did think about grinding some pepper over the plant - do you think that would work? I've now moved the victim plant into the bathroom and have bought the bathroom one downstairs so the first can recover ;D

Try putting a little orange peel in the pot..cats hate citrus... gets right up their noses ;D The pepper idea would work too, indoors better than outdoors, IMO. I have put spider plants in hanging baskets, they look lovely raised up, especially when the runners are left on, She`ll be sick if it upsets her.

Oh great! The last thing I need is for the cat to start puking! She drools most of the time and regularly coughs up hairballs already!!!
The spider plant is in an iron "thing" - basically it's a decorative basket with a long stem giving it a shape vaguely like a wineglass, only the stem is about 12 inches tall. The spider plant is near the TV now so hopefully she will leave it alone - she was eating it from where she sits on the windowsill but can't quite reach it now.
I'll do the orange peel thing as well as pepper - I'd forgotten about cats and citrus <doh>

She probably mistook it for grass, they eat that medicinally to promote sickness and expel fur balls. Did you see that program about girls that eat their own hair, they had to operate...gross!

Margi suggested that too - thanks The witch! I must admit that my cat is one of those impossible ones that you can never please. I planted cat-mint for her and she's gone off it. If I were to grow cat grass specially for her she wouldn't want it - she's only eating the blessed spider plant because I keep telling her not to, I'm sure of it! ;D
I'm going to tell LP that about having to operate on a girl who sucked her hair - LP does it and it's DISGUSTING!!!
She normally eats the grass Sweetleaf but I've a feeling she ate the spider plant because the grass was frozen!!! ;D

The hairball in one girls stomach was as big as a baby, there was no room for anything else.

Make sure the fishtank has a secure lid and you shouldn't have too many problems Susie. Just keep an eye on the fish when you come to clean the tank! I speak from experience having found Poppy wading once!!! ;D

It's only 20 litres The witch! We've had it set up a week, added real plants and bogwood and introduced two fish today. It does have a filter in it.
Do you think it will be ok?
