I think they do thrive on neglect actually! Have you tried watering with a weak solution of Tomato fertiliser? That might encourage it to start producing a flower stem instead of leaves....don't feed it with anything else and leave it in it's present pot until it's really potbound (and beyond). It MUST flower eventually......

The high nitrogen content of Baby Bio might be the reason they have made so much leaf...(I'm guessing...) the potassium in Tomato fertiliser may encourage them to flower. Worth a try anyway

Better late than never...one amaryllis (Ferrari) now has a stem almost 24" tall with a huge bud on it just starting to split open...there's another bud emerging too. 'Hercules is a little slower to start (it's in a slightly bigger pot than the other one) but has a nice fat bud emerging as well

Isn't it wonderful to watch?? Mine are just standing straight with a huge bud on each stem - the red one looks fantastic just like that....I think they are worth the wait and the frustration!

My creamy Amaryllis flower with the stripes is fully out now, with another bud to open soon - there's no point in posting a photo as it looks exactly the same as the picture I posted last year (on P2 of this thread) ;D Very beautiful and amazing though. The red one is just starting to open too - can't wait!

My bulbs have split, there are now two largish bulbs in each pot, each with a lot of healthy leaves.....thats what they have been doing with their energy. Would have preferred flowers though

Did you leave them till the leaves rot down like you are supposed to do with hyacynths Sweety? Ive only bought this one this year from a sale Aldi were having so I dont really know what to do but I would think that you need to feed the bulb maybe so it can flower the next year

Oooooo--Noooooo-Nooooo- The leaves build the Bulb up for next year's flowering--I think! (Like Daffodils--if you cut the leaves down they becoe blind next year!)

Well, mine have been blind for three years, leaves left on, and fed, first with Baby Bio, then with tomato feed, still blind, think Id better buy them a white stick, its obviously permanent . I bought them from GWL, you would think they would sell decent bulbs there!
