Last year i grew my own tumbling toms and a local variety tom, called the blaby tomato, with good results. I kept the some seeds and harvested them in 2 different ways, one to dry the seeds normally on kitchen towel and the second was to soak them in water till they went fury. Sowing the seeds that were soaked where much easier as they were lose, whilst the dried ones where clumped together and not so much easier to handle it also seems the ones that were soaked have germinated more. just thought I'd share that with you all

That's useful info Mark- thanks.
I usually only save large seed - pumpkin, runner beans, etc.
The pumpkin seeds I have always washed under cool water.

I guess I would be right in thinking that this couldn't be done with F1 hybrids though, but could it be done with F2's?

You could do it, The witch but the results would be variable and the plants may have undesirable characteristics from the parents.
