No wonder you need two plots, SL! How long do you spend down there on average? Keith

As long as I can, Keith the longest was 12 hours, just recently I came home for two reasons .....it was dark and my flask was empty!

Walked up to the allotment in lunchtime yesterday. It was blowing a gale and spitting with rain but I haven't been there for about a week. Not looking too bad - Pink Fir Apple just showing and some parsnips! Not many and it remains to be seen if the other seedlings are also parsnips or just weeds. Time will tell..
Also showing are carrots, 2 lots of beetroot, spring onions, leeks, mixed leaves, spinach, radish, broad beans and 2 lots of onions from onion sets.
If the rain keeps up I should be able to dig over the remainder soon in time for courgettes, french beans, sweet corn, tomatoes etc.

Jolly good. Mine spuds are growing at a rate of knots. Can't earth them up anymore though. The courgettes are growing out of their pots and the beans just germinating. I really want/need to get out in the garden this weekend. Got to sow another batch of carrots now the moles have sabotaged one lot , and plant all the Little Gems out, and sow spring onions and radishes for OH. Oo, all this rain might have helped the peas and beans swell up - might be some ready. I shall have to go investigate now. Anybody got any wonderful suggestions for cucumber supports - I usually just use canes and twine and spend all summer propping them all up....

Hmm, do you think clematis support stuff would be any good? Although I have miles of baler twine from the hay bales - shall I crochet my own?

As long as its supported well it should work, Im not too keen on the orange stuff really, its not too attractive but you use what you have on the lottie, recycling rules!

I know. Mine doesn't work very well though! I may have to go to the coast, kidnap and ancient, cod smelling fisherman and hold him hostage in the PT until he knits me a nice strong net out of baler twine. I have orange and blue - very decorative...... the stink of cod might keep the rats away too.

I just cant wait to get planting, this month is passing so slowly, and everything thinks its time and wont slow down for love nor money. I may have to give in at this rate, and plant them out under cloches.
