It is lovely, isn't it? I saw it on their email a few weeks ago and was tempted, but just don't know where I would put them. Keith

Well Sleepy, they arrived yeasterday - 6 tubers each one the size of a peanut! It says to grow them in orchid compost and can be grown outdoors with some winter protection (although they are said to be hardy down to -6), woodland garden or patio containers, or all year in a cool house or greenhouse. Protect from scorching heat at all times. If in a border, humus-rich slightly acidic, well drained soil in dappled shade. During the growing season they require plenty of water in order to simulate Asia's monsoon season - water daily with rain water in spring and summer! I knew this but still bought them - time will tell if I have bittten off more than I can chew! Have had to re-think the pot - the one planned won't work!

Well, so far I have 2 little shoots each about 1" tall ;D Don't know where the other 4 are!
They are in the kitchen at the moment as I thought that the conservatory would not give them any humidity. I may move them to the bathroom that may be better - either that or they will be dizzy!
Will keep you up to date with progress!

Brilliant! I bet the other two follow on. ;D I hope so - it will be clever positioning of the pot otherwise as it will be lop-sided!

Brilliant! I bet the other two follow on. ;D One has poked its little head up this morning You can tell I'm chuffed can't you? ;D Even to get them this far! They are now in the kitchen and appear to be happy there - I thought that they would get some of the humidity they need there - or in the bathroom but then I have to carry the pot downstairs and outside to water them!

Oh good! Can't wait to seethem in flower Myrtle - I womanfully resisted the temptation to get them so I am relying on you, you know......
I discovered yesterday that my beloved grandson has removed all the labels (I made such an effort to be efficient too) from my row of pots containing all the tender bulbs and tubers etc - all sorts in them but I can't remember at all! ;D Bless his cotton socks....I can't find any of them...

Well, they are certainly getting plenty of rainwater aren't they? Not really humid enough for them though. The last one to appear was dug up by Poppy! And also another one has died so back down to four - they look like pieces of grass in a pot! They have started to put on a little more growth though, as a couple of weeks ago they were decidedly 'iffy'. It really needs to be a bit warmer and humid for them I think! There is still time.

Like they have my lilies - up they come, big buds just about to open and...........munch. That's the last thing you want after all the expectation, some mollusc to come along and wreck the exquisite buds. Luckily there were enough flowers on the lilies to see a bloom or two in their full glory.

Well, and then there were 2! There were 3 at the start of the week but Poppy was playing the other night and landed in the pot breaking one - she is really heavy footed for a small cat sometimes. They have been looking decidedly iffy and still do, although it is much warmer now, and I am hoping they will improve time will tell! They are still short blades of grass!

Such a shame Myrtle - cats are usually very sure footed too. Perhaps next year will be a better year for Egret Orchids - many plants/bulbs don't seem to do very well in their first year. Oh, she is very sure footed - she makes sure she lands on a plant or on me in the middle of the night! ;D
