Help, I started some sweet peas off in my GH in Oct and they are getting out of control. When can I harden them off and plant them out? I read one of plottys post and he spoke of pinching out his sweet peas? Should I be doing this? What is the correct way to pinch out a sweet pea? I'm sorry if I sound a bit dim, but its the first time i've grown them ;D

I remember reading in the Amateur Gardening Magazine, that if you want them to keep on flowering you have to keep pinching them out - but I'm not sure how either. I hardly had any survivors anyway as the slugs got mine - they're beautiful plants though.

Thanks mrsb Looks like i've been doing the right thing with them, according to that I may even get flowers in April/may. Have you tried starting them off in pots, that may help with your slug problem.

i have some seeds to sow and will be doing them in pots this week and keeping them in the outside porch until the weather is better. love the smell of sweetpeas in the house i pinch them down to 2 sets of leaves emseypop they will bush up a bit then and be stronger, get leggy if you don't do it plant out when this cold spell is gone, they will be alright then
