What do you use? I drag the tender plants that are in pots into the GH or conservatory..this year however we have tender stuff in the ground and I'm in two minds...
We have a sheltered garden but I don't want to loose everything, the past two or three years we've had very mild winters...but you never know what's around the corner.
Anyway, the musa basjoo will have most of the leaves cut off, then I'll put a chicken-wire cage around the stem, and stuff that with straw. I'm going to lay the leaves that I've removed on top so and fasten them to the wire so that water can run off.
The musa sikkimensis is right up by the fence in a very sheltered corner...so I'm just going to mulch around the base.
what do you do?

I also bring everything into the greenhouse but some are now so big that I need my son's help to shift them. In particular the giant bonsai (bit of a contradiction in terms there) money plant is a real struggle. As explained on the Aloe thread A. ferox is now just too big for the greenhouse so it is up against the fence and well sheltered from the East and has been double fleeced. Agaves could possibly stay out but I bring them in anyway.

I have also protected the gunnera, by wrapping the leaves over the top of the two crowns, then strawed and fleeced. I don't have the luxury of a greenhouse yet, so most of my plants are hardy and should be OK. Nearly bought a tree fern yesterday, but chose to wait until the spring. What is the point in buying one to straight away dig a hole and fleece it up? ;D Keith

I wrap some of my slightly more tender plants in garden fleece although I don't really like how they look My really tender Pennisetum Setaceum "Rubrum" comes into the porch for the winter. Well it used to come into the house but now I've got the porch I think it will be a better spot - less central heating and more natural light.

Luckily i dont have anything in my garden that needs protection but i would bring them in or cover with fleece.
