This beastie somehow manages to stick the last inch or so of the leaves together. When you peel them away from each other there's a kind of cobwebby substance and a small maggot of some kind in the middle of where the leaves have been stuck together. I think I've also seen the very small brown beetle which is responsible for this although I could be falsely accusing some innocent bug! Has anyone else had this problem?

I've had it on my very young Osteospermum and Deutzia so far. The Philadelphus is looking suspicious too..............

Hi mrs B I've had them in my garden and G/H I usually squish them or put them in the dustbin to munch on the rubbish till they get taken away.

Thanks Maggyd - must admit I do feel slightly guilty though. You've got to hand it to them, it's a great form of protection and food source isn't it, if they can get away with it.

That's the little devil, thanks The witch! Thanks too Ali - I must admit I've been squishing too. You've just reminded me, I have a plant in the garden - unidentified and I bet they were responsible for striping it bare. - must try and find a picture. of the plant that is.
