This just gets left to it's own devices year upon year, but this time it's excelled itself.

That's beautiful! I LOVE blue flowers and they seem to like my garden - which is nice. Can you confirm OB's ID please Netherfield? I might have to look for that....

Can't confirm a name at all, inherited it with the house, maybe needs someone like Plocket to advise.

Never do anything with it at all, until we did some pruning of the plants around where it sits I couldn't even see the where it came from.
and if keeps doing what it's doing I think never will
I must just add that the camera lies a little it's not as blue as it seems, more violet.

Petals the wrong shepe for any of the Etoile series and E. violet is much more purple than this one. There is another really good blue (if the colour in the picture is reasonably true) and that is Daniel Deronda

It's not Etoile Violette - I'll have to get my book out later Netherfield but I like Owdboggys suggestions so far

You might have hit the spot there owdboggy, that's the colour, don't know why but my camera never does well on blues tones.

No, I have had trouble with blues myself. Try taking a shot with the flash gun, in the dark!

What a beautiful Clematis! The slugs and snails obviously allowed it to get going.
