I like those! I wish Id seen them before. I bought a plant for each of my children Miss Lucy would have been a good one for my daughter. I had to settle for an Impatiens whose common name Impatient Lucy in America was as close as I could get.

I love white flowers SL - I've put these directly into the ground - I usually grow lilies in pots, but discovered last year that they seem much happier in the ground. T & M put a leaflet in with one of my orders, if they hadn't I wouldn't have known about these pollen free lilies - I don't understand why they cost so much though. I know some cat owners are concerned about lily pollen, in which case these lilies could be the answer to their prayers.

I put my Lilies on the Lottie for that reason. I had them as a gift from my son, after I had lost my previous ones to the ravages of the evil Red lily Beatle. I didnt have the heart to tell him I couldnt have them in the garden because of the cats.

My cats have never been troubled by lily pollen, thankfully.

What is the problem The witch is it just the staining? its not toxic is it? I ask as I planted some that I bought from lidl some I have planted straight into the ground , and I planted a couple in pots. I did wonder if the ones I planted in the ground should have been planted in acid soil! ?as they look a bit iffy.

Morning Maggyd. Lily pollen IS toxic to cats (I don't know why). Some lillies, e.g. L.Superbum and some Oriental hybrids do need acid soil. Which ones did you plant?

As Ladystargazer had said cats and lilies aren't supposed to mix maggyd, although my cats don't seem to have suffered any. With regard to the pollen staining, the best way to deal with the pollen on clothing is NOT to brush the pollen off, but to remove it using cellotape.

Morning LadyS nice to chat with you I bought these lillies cheap from Lidl, the ones I planted straight in the ground are Oriental mix that is as much information as is on the card and the ones in pots are Garden party, Girosa,Willeke Alberti, and Muscadet, they are a scented lily and Ive just noticed that they were from Morrisons £2.99 for 8. I havent got a cat but I do have a 12 month old chihuahua who eats anything!!!!!! we came home from a week in Scotland yesterday afternoon and this morning the little blighter was heaving being sick as most other friends on this board know he is a right handfull I need eyes in the back of my head.

No, Maggy, I find it impossible to remove fingers with Sellotape I assume that cats brush past the lily stamens and get the pollen on their fur and then lick it off. I'd watch your little dog - we don't want anything nasty happening to him. I don't know any of your lillies (hey! I don't know them all - i ain't no expert) so I must look them up. Regards LStargazer
