Thought you might like to be the first public to see some new colour breaks in a summer flowering Allium. They do not come true from seed so I am trying to bulk them up




Gold, very pale yellow, pink, orange. Normal colour is very bright yellow.
I also have some other colours too, but single bulbs of them and very hard to photograph, yet!

Lovely! Im so used to just seeing yellow, hope they bulk up beautifully for you. My fave is the pink! Im going for pink a lot more these days.

Funny, but the pink is not my top one. There are already a lot of Alliums with pink flowers, summer flowering too, but the Gold coloured one is most unusual.
There is another one which I can only describe as red over yellow which is really good. When I say red over yellow that is what I mean, it is not orange, which is red and yellow mixed. Trouble is that, try as I might I cannot get the colours to show up on a pictures. I have tried taking pics against every colour background I can find, but the colour disappears. I will crack it yet!
I doubt if these will ever become commercial. The plants are too small to make a real garden impact and they are devils for self seeding all over the place and reverting to the original colour. Dead-heading is a chore, but really needed, otherwise you end up with a zillion acid yellow alliums EVERYWHERE!
They could make good show plants for a July Alpine Show though.

Wonderful OB - I tried growing these www.suttons.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?product=221287 in my last garden, but I was very disappointed even in their first year they were all the same colour
