These are some of the places where I grow my Semps. Pic 1. This is a deep seed double sized seed tray in a wooden window box style affair. There are about 20 different Semps in there. Pic 2. These are growing in those big 9ins by 9 ins by 18 ins concrete bulding blocks, obviously the hollow kind. Pic3. I made some pots from hyper tufa. The mould was a square wooden box and the hole in the middle was a piece of drain pipe. Pic 4. This is a rosette newly planted in a crevice in one of our alpine growing areas. Pic 5. I also made some hyper tufa troughs. This is a Sempervivum one. Pic 6. This is the kind of rocky area just crying out for a semp or two. Pic 7. The stones in here are about 4 to 6 inches across. It is waiting another weeding before I plant it up. Pic 8.You would never be able to plant these here, this is just a moss covered boulder. These may well be seed blown ones. Pic 9. Last one, This is what happens when you plant them too close to leafy spreaders. Othello here is in grave danger. And finally, please do not ask me to identifty anyones plants. It is reckoned to be impossible!

The concrete blocks are buried about a third of their height in the soil, that way you do get some capillary action, so the plants do not get too dry. Sedums also will grow in them.

As I've said elsewhere, I have Sempervivums growing on pure concrete - no soil at all.

Just wondering how you are getting on with your Sempervivums OB. I think you said you were making some beds for them...and the weather was preventing you. How's it going? Any chance of any pictures please?
