I have put together a series of photos showing how I propagate them . Obviously this is very graphics heavy so, if it is too much then I will delete or reduce as needed! Pic 1. A plant in need of renovation, weeds, especially pearlwort in the pot. Pic 2 Rosettes removed. Pic 3 Rosettes cleaned of moss weeds etc. Pic 4. Rosettes in Plug trays in the Greenhouse. I use a peat free compost. Pic 5 This is what you get after a few weeks in the trays. Pic 6. These are inserted into a mix of compost, grit (half and half) with Suscon green in it Nasty stuff, but it keeps the dread Vine weevils away for a while. Pic 7. A few months later.

Very informative, thanks OB. I am very envious of that bench full! I went to RHS Hyde Hall on a visit last summer - they had a lovely display of sempervivums but hardly any of the really gorgeous ones for sale (very irritating that). I was sooo tempted to nip back and tweak a few of the many babies of my favourites.....I was good though...
