I shall have to consult the mystic couch grass patterns on the bottom of the compost heap......then it will become clearer...I see grasses (still), native wild flowers (wishful thinking) and green roses..........with a hint of the healing/soporific powers of Fennel tea........and Monty wearing a teflon jerkin...... Green roses, how did I guess!! Keith

Goodo, I stand corrected about our wonderful postal service - very prompt. You may be able to sow them next Wednesday then, The witch, in your new garden....... I'm sure you'll have time! OK I will do that in the afternoon 4P, after I have dug out some borders in the morning.

Is it too late in the season to sow the Cerinthe major seeds you gave me 4P?

Certainly not! Get them in and enjoy them - they'll grow very quickly now. Is it nice to get your hands mucky again The witch? It must have been horrible when we were all sowing like mad and you couldn't. Make up for it now!

I should sow them in plugs - then you can plant them out as soon as they're big enough without disturbing them. They flower quite quickly I've found.

Morning The witch! It's not that, they are as tough as old boots but I think they flower quicker if they're sown in plugs - less disturbance. Have you got any of those 6 pack ones that bedding plants are sold in? Put two or three seeds in each and you'll get nice clumps. (I know you know this ! Sorry)

Are the roots out of the bottom? I shouldn't worry unless they are. You may even get more flowers if you treat 'em mean......

One slight problem, I think I planted one a bit close to a dahlia, but we will see how it turns out! I don't really want to move it, now it is starting to show me what it is made of, do I? ;D Keith

Are your Cerinthe flowering well now Keith? Or did the weather do for them as well as your carrots? Mine are surviving pretty well fortunately, flowering their little elegant socks off. Just as well as I want the seeds come Autumn!

Just as well as I want the seeds come Autumn! Yep, they are doing quite well. It's the first time I have seen or grown them and the flowers really are nice, aren't they? Not sure about their position in the border, but we will see. Maybe should take some photos later!! Keith
