Anyone who knows me from before will know I have great difficulty keeping these alive and that I need them for a border I'm trying to create which will be a memorial for my mum. In this border is lavender sedum, and gypsophila and Roses. It duplicates the small front garden I remember my mother had on the Fire Station I spent my childhood on.
Any and all advice you can give will be received with gratitude. My soil is free draining and slightly acid but has lots of heart and doesn't dry out readily, for most plants this is ideal, not it seems for Gypsophila.
Im not giving up btw, today I bought 8 more plants........help!

That's odd cos I was very tempted to buy a packet or three at Poundland today! I think your soil is too acid prolly SL. Gypsophila likes chalky soil which is usually on the dry side and often quite poor. P'raps you could sink a pot with some more suitable soil in the border so you can mimic its perfect conditions. Just a thought.

Thanks, 4P Ill try that then! Ive tried just about everything else. Ill lime the soil and see what happens, and put some in pots for insurance. ;D My mums garden was only a mile or so from here, so I assumed the soil would have been similar

Your not on your own sweetleaf I have never been able to grow it either! but I will try again and do what you are going to do, my soil tends to be on the clay side although I have worked a lot of compost in so FINGERS CROSSED I think that is a lovely idea creating your Mothers border I wish I could do something similar but my Mum wasnt into gardening (it could have been something to do with the 8 children she was busy bringing up) but I think I will plant something mauve just for her as it was her favourate colour.
