Split from: The+Banter+BoxYES!!! Give us a bit more help though - evergreen or not? Colour of flower? Flat flowers or more bell shaped? Not too fussy, I love them all, on your art gallery there was a nice blue one......quite keen on that, it was the last of the pics as I remember Also liked the white one The witch showed mick, the available wall will be about 15ft long, by the height of the house btw! ;D An armandii should do fine with lots of warmth and sun - they grow pretty big and will certainly cover a lot of the area you mention! My painting was of a blue integrifolia which is much smaller - only about 1 metre! That likes some sun too but won't cover a wall!!!

Oh. It is very pretty though, maybe I could grow it in a pot, and have it near the porch , and still have room for two others on the wall! Is the integrifolia evergreen? It doesnt matter if its not, if its in a pot.

Oh yes they don't mind underplanting at all - it helps shade the base of the plant and the roots. As you can see I've got pinks and slate around that one but the slugs love it. I also use heucheras quite a lot because of the evergreen foliage. A wigwam is perfect if you want some height - personally I've given up trying to get mine to grow upwards especially as it looks nice flopping about. Some of the smaller integrifolias do grow upwards though because the stems don't get so heavy - I've a couple that only grow to about 2ft so they are more upright. There's lots of different colours to choose from with the integrifolias but I can recommend plain old integrifolia blue, Petit Faucon, Blue Pirouette - all blues/purples. They also look nice planted in pairs - say blue and white. Oh I'm getting carried away again ;D

I can definitely picture that, do they need winter protection or will they be tough enough to cope? I can always move a pot into the GH? I was thinking about underplanting with Nepeta it has very small leaves and loves to cascade down the side of a pot,and the bonus is, it has tiny blue flowers and scented leaves.

Nah they are tough, especially if you don't get a fancy one. I've got all mine outside with no protection - even the container ones (Petit Faucon and Blue Pirouette) but the garden is fairly sheltered. Integrifolia blue would look gorgeous with nepeta (you've mentioned that plant to be before!), and how about some purple crocus for spring? Come to think of it I've got a hardy cyclamen under one of mine. You shouldn't have any problem getting hold of a bog standard Blue - go for it ;D

Oh and don't forget that they do better in clay, stone, concrete or wooden containers - plastic and metal heats up too much and almost cooks the roots.
