Some of my pots are getting overun with this horrible stuff, as are the cracks between the paving of our shady patio area. I'm constantly pulling the dammed stuff up but never seem to eradicate it - can anyone help with other suggestions?

Salt. It wont do the job in the pots, but it will be fine poured into the cracks in the paving, watch that you dont get it where you want to grow anything though!

Oooh I'll try that on the paving! Do I just scatter cooking salt or is it better made into a saline solution?

Pour salt into the cracks but dont do it where there is a chance of run off when it rains or youll sterilise the soil it touches...think dead sea and youre on the right track!

Ah! Well most of it runs off into the flower beds or the grass. I guess I'll just have to keep scraping it out! Thanks anyway Sweetleaf!

Not sure I know what liverwort is Plocket (I thought it was a sausage ) b ut Ive got something that seems to have overrun my front borders and rockery the closest I can find that looks like it is MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS its tiny little round leaf that forms a dense carpet. It seems to have the same habit as your liverwort.

They are very different Maggyd but still take over the garden. MYOB usually starts off as a houseplant which looks cute in a pot but then it gets everywhere. It is actually quite pretty but not something I'd want in my garden! I found this for you if it's any help: RHS ADVICE And THIS is Liverwort:
