Its that time again, time to dig up your Echeverias rescue your tender Fuschias move your Musas and Brugmansias indoors, thing is where is it all going? I have a huge half barrel in the garden, its been filled by the rootball of Canna "The president" last year it was too big to bring in so I potted it into a bigger barrel with dry compost and covered it to keep it dry, no such option this year though, suggestions?

Some kind of mini polytunnel or something you can move easily to ventilate it? I have quite a few things to protect but I'm rubbish at doing it in time........usually I shove a lump of straw on top at the last minute. Last year all my Dahlias came through the winter in the ground but mulched well..the globe artichokes, about 10 ft away, treated the same way, they all died.

That's the problem with ebay I think. You see something lovely and then realise it's got to come from 300 miles away...I don't look very often as it annoys me!

I cant even lift the thing on my own, Emsey can you imagine the postage on a thing like that? Apparently Im supposed to lift it and keep it in the dark somewhere cool. I need a hoist to get it out of the pot though!

Send for the catalogue, Sweetie, it's a lovely read and really informative. I order lots of seeds from them every year. Very tempting...the only slight critcism is that there are no pictures of the plants......although that never stops me.

I've got some of those fleece bag things...they're for the stuff that's too big to drag into the GH and conservatory....

I never protect my Agapanthus by taking it indoors...I try and pull into the shelter of the conservatory but that's it. It has survived so far..... I would have thought a fleece wrap would be enough, especially if you top dress the pot with some straw. I always worry slightly that bubble wrap will encourage the damp. If the base is fleeced I think bubble wrap secured over the bulb to keep it dry would be enough. You must allow some ventilation though.
