I'm a bit sad about the Bay as it's one I grew from a cutting - the only one that has ever taken in about 30 years! Ah well, there's a nice big pot waiting for a new plant now...what shall I get? It's very very sunny and hot in the summer, quite protected in the winter ...might have another go at an Olive. Or I could just put my little Fig tree in it.......ooh, decisions decisions......or a Peach tree!

You don't need to 4P - it's rather gorgeous. You just need to find someone who can supply the same rose for all of us!!! ;D

We managed to cut the grass today!!!!! AND I did some weeding! I've decided that the clematis that I bought as Mrs Cholmondeley, but which I'm convinced is Blue Angel, might have to be moved. It's far too rampant for the spot it's in but it's not really the right time of year to move it.

Doesn't the garden look nicer when the grass is mowed? OH did a bit of ours yesterday before the siren call of free wine from my sister's do dragged him away......shame about your mixed up clems though. I get quite cross when plants are labelled wrongly. But then I get quite cross about a lot of things to do with garden centres and nurseries

Despite my reluctance to get out there I have been out in the PT and GH to do some moving about. I've rebuilt my seed table in the GH as it's cooler in there and seems to have a more even temperature than the PT. I was going to build my cucumber frame but the soil was so dry I spent about an hour pouring bucket after bucket of water on it to try and get it to soak down. I chucked a lot of goaty muck on the border in there last autumn and then forgot to water it so it's absolutely bone dry now......you live and learn. I shall have to turn it over and make sure it's really wet before I plant anything in it. Eventually it will be good rich stuff! Also pricked out a tray of Heliotrope and Musk Mallow and repotted a crate of Red Campion. I hurt my back digging about so I've still got all the Toms to repot. And my cold frame full of Sunflowers are looking a bit poorly - they've all grown out of their pots(and the cold frame...). So much to do - I need a gardening slave really......

I love it when the grass is done - it really is amazing the difference it makes. I'm pretty miffed about the clematis because we bought it from Cholmondeley Castle as a sort of souvenier - only I'm sure it was wrongly labelled - GRRRRR! Ah well - I can always move it. I've plans to move it into a container and have it in the front garden - I need to convince OH first, and find a suitable container I moved loads of pots around the patio this afternoon because my Agapanthus and Iris Germanica "Caliente" aren't getting enough sun. I've never seen the iris flower and I've had it for a couple of years : The Great Tits and Blue Tits swooped down as soon as I came back into the house, and they had a good old poke around between the pots to see what had been unearthed. I'm itching to prune the ceanothus so that more sun gets to the "hot bed" but as it's still in flower I'm just going to have to wait.

I will post some this afternoon after I clean the glass, its a wee bit grubby I decided against slowing the job down by insisting it was cleaned before it was fitted, so I have to do that before I show it off! Im planting my Toms today, in the border inside.

Coo, can't wait! I've been in the PT this afternoon too - been digging over the borders and constructing a frame for the cucumbers. The chickens were in there with me and we had a fine time even though it was raining outside. I planted 4 cucumbers and tied them in and got 6 San Marzano tomatoes in and watered them all in. Then my back started to protest so I'll do another lot tomorrow. Also cut a load of apple tree trimmings for the goats which they love. I'm trying to cut all the little twiggy branches out of two of the trees but as usual I'm too short to do most of it. I wish I was tall. It must be heavenly to be able to reach things.......

OH has mentioned strimming again...oo, I DO hope he does it...I don't like going into the chicken run with it so overgrown now I've seen a rat.......and the chickens are too old to carry their machetes about for too long. My plans for the day are to repot all the wild flowers ready for the next sale in a fortnight, plant the prairie plants I bought for the flower garden wherever I can put them in (too weedy in the flower garden sadly, and to finish planting all the toms in the PT.....it's gloomy and wet but that's the best weather to garden in isn't it? (As opposed to pottering about in the sunshine....stopping for a swig of cider every so often). No one's about but I hope you all have a nice day.

The garden is looking lush at the moment. The taddies are growing legs so they must be happy, and I'm hoping that with a bit of sunshine my waterlily and water iris might flower for the first time. I'm dreaming of getting a Clematis Cassis and a partner to go with it, but my finances are somewhat strapped at the moment so I'm going to have to wait a while (they'll be out of stock by the time I can afford them!!!) but I did get some copper slug-stoppa tape yesterday and Wyevale, and LP was given a packet of sunflower seeds so she can take part in a competition to grow the "fattest" flower. So yesterday we sowed the seeds and she's got high hopes! I also bought some wildflower seeds in the hope that I can make a kinda replication of the Fetzer garden idea - in a small shallow pot!!! I've gone for a cornfield mix so the colours will be different too - but the thought is there! ;D

It won't be that different Plocket, most summer wild flowers are a similar colour spectrum, I think. It'll look lovely anyway. I love wild flowers - that garden was gorgeous!

I decided not to garden today but Ive got the highlights of the chelsea show on, and Im starting to get itchy fingers. My spuds came last week and they need to go in, theres nothing left to do in the garden at home except re-seeding the lawn where the greenhouse staging was for so long. What to do?
