A new experience for me this afternoon - I was dragged reluctantly into a shop called Poundland while my daugher went on the hunt for kids party stuff. I'm sure you all know this but I was drawn by the gardening section and found a goodly array of shrubs, soft fruit bushes, bulbs and herbaceous plants for sale- all for a pound each. And amazingly they looked quite healthy. I usually buy these sorts of thngs out of sympathy for the poor plants but these were, on the whole, nice and strong with lots of green shoots and good roots on them. I didn't buy any though as I was frazzled by this time!

Its a good buy, when they first come into the shop but they only have one or two deliveries at our poundland, so in a couple of weeks the stock they have left will only be fit for compost, which is a real shame. I was in two such shops today Home bargains being the other one they had some very nice Eucomis bulbs for just over a pound so I invested a bit. I also bought some more bulbs and plants and a new dibber with a measured shaft .....

CPB, you'd have laughed at me yesterday.....dragged unwillingly round a new shopping centre into alien shops (why do they make them now so you have no idea what they're selling inside...? ). The place was heaving so I made a sharp exit (as sharp as is possible for one of my height and girth and stood out in the blessed rain and fresh air to wait for the kids). I do NOT like crowds and shops.......at one point I was fantasising about doing the Fosby flop over an old man in a wheelchair, a double somesault over a gaggle of teenagers and a rhino charge at the exit..... .
