These are my new Hanging baskets I had for Christmas. What do you think.? And any suggestions of what to grow in them. I always do Pelargoniums, fuchsias, Petunia's in. Does anyone have any other idea's in a pink blue and white theme. Please also share your basket ideas, past or future to give me inspiration. Many thanks Alicat. x

What about pink and blue brachycome and white bacopa, and then some Dicondra 'Silver Falls' for a bit of foliage?

Photobucket is on a go slow tonight Alicat so I can't post any photo's at the moment. Don't worry about getting the size of your two new wonderful baskets Alicat I think you said that they are the same size as most hanging baskets anyway

Why not try the modern approach, like I do, and use hanging baskets with a water reservoir in the base?

Thanks for the photo's Plocket and The witch They look great. Plocket I'm doing Toms in hanging baskets this year for the first time. - Whats the yellow flowers in with them? The witch I love petunia's and million bells ( Calibrachoa ) They don't seem to mind being on an almost north facing wall.

I don't like buzy lizy's much - probably cause the the last time I used them they shriveled up and died. - maybe I should give them another go. I do use lobelia though. The witch. - They probably do much better in full sun. - I'm hoping to get OH to put more baskets up out the back this year. Has anyone tried Hanging Basket clematis.(Sunstar) I have some seeds from last year but never got to try them.

Sorry I didn't reply Alicat - the flowers in with the toms are marigolds - not fancy ones but bog standard "attract the bugs" flowers.

They are cute and do ok in hanging baskets. I've also had Sunset and Silver Moon in a hanging basket for a couple of years now - both are doing well and showing lots of new growth for this year. I prune them back a bit harder than my other Group 2s though so they don't take over ;D

Hi alicat do you use gell in your compost it does help hold the water I find that busy lizy even when drooping quite badly after someone that shall remain nameless promised to water while I was away, soon perked up again after a good watering.

Sorry I didn't reply Alicat - the flowers in with the toms are marigolds - not fancy ones but bog standard "attract the bugs" flowers. Hey no prob's P. - Life takes over sometimes. As for sunstar. - Think I will give it a go. If OH will put some more baskets up. : Maggyd. - Yes I use Gel and put a dish in the bottom now. But 15 years ago I just planted them and hoped for the best. - Maybe I should give them another go this year. Do you have any pictures of your hanging baskets to add to this thread.? - I would love to see them. A. x
