Actually my favourite medium has always been pencil crayons...I have got paints but I'm so out of practise I wouldn't want to start again without a lot of time - too depressing! So many years since I did anything much - I used to love Life classes. There's a good use for an old ladies body! Much better to draw - they're really interesting with their ups and downs and nooks and crannies. Or should that be nooks and grannies

Hi Plocket...don't you listen to that 4P...I just dabble a bit. I'm never satisfied with my work either. I tend to buy my pencils individually now as I use some colours more than others, I have the same as you (4P and I were advised to get them at school by an excellent artist and have used them eversince) I also have some very expensive 'Karisma' ones which have a gorgeous texture but tend to break. I've done a bit of watercolour, gauche and acrylics, never got on with oils as they were too faffy. I tend to use whatever's to hand! invariably mixing the media. If I'm doing an abstract I use acrylics...but I think of abstracts as me 'playing' with the medium (I'm not as 'up myself as it sounds Honest!'. If I'm making cards I use gauche...my family all expect individual one-off cards every year but I only usually do 'em for special occasions.
Since I've been heavily into gardening my painting has fallen by the wayside a bit...but I do still do it occasionally. I've seen your paintings and I think that they are excellent, really lovely...but I dunno if I've got the bottle to post any of mine ;D XXX

Hia Cheery - well just PM some to me then!!! I promise not to share them with anyone unless you give me the nod.
It's odd how shy we all are about having a gift isn't it? I'm not that good with coloured pencils these days but still draw decent sketches. Mum's got some of my piccies on the wall which always embarrases me but she likes them so I guess it's her choice. I've not got any of my drawings or paintings on the wall, but have got a few collages in our bedroom. And there's a painting of a wisteria flower I did for my grandparents hiding on the mantlepiece behind photos of the family - I asked for it back when they died.
Ho hum. I was hoping to get a little Autumn Fruits gallery going..........

I have 3 paintings by me on the walls - the one of my nanna, a portrait of an old man and some roses I did for my nan when I was 17. They are all donkey's years old. I don't mind starting the ball rolling as they were all done so long ago! I'll just charge the camera up and see what if I can do a decent photo of them. I'm doing this cos I'm nosy and want to see everyone else's. If no one else posts any afterwards I shall sulk for HOURS.....

I'd forgotten them...blimey, that was a long time ago. Big money! I have sold quite a few pictures over the years really when I think about it but I haven't had much chance to do it for pleasure. That was something I meant to do when middle daughter left home. I had such a nice studio for a while. Then she came back........! Typical.

Driving in this morning I was suddenly struck by the amounts of daffodils everywhere. It's lovely to see them coming up in out of the way areas where somebody planted them years ago e.g. roadside banks. And for all the talk about GW and how everything was so advanced - well,it's March and daffs are out - so what's new?

The daffs really got battered here by the wind on Saturday. Nevertheless I was able to tidy up all the beds and mow the lawns, cut the edges etc. All looks pretty smart. Some white tulips are flowering now. Wallflowers just beginning to show as well.
Is there such a thing as Willow Aphid? My littlest grandson chose a japanese willow last year which I have in a pot and I suddenly noticed that the main stem was covered in huge grey aphids. They are ex aphids now of course.

Just found out that willow aphids are all female - no males. That's a clever trick then.

And they are born pregnant, I dont think thats much of a life, but I dont feel sorry for them, when I squish them.
