Had to go home at lunchtime and it is very unusual to be walking round the garden in a short sleeved shirt on Feb 2nd.
The sun was shining, the crocuses were croaking, the bulbs are coming up and the mint patch sprouting strongly. Some new flowers in the greenhouse on an Aloinopsis and an Odontophorus (Mesembryanthemacae).

Well I was out today at an humungous ginormous GC...sitting in the tea room with my panini and fresh coffee I noticed that if it wasn't for the fact that there are no leaves on the trees you could think that it was early summer...oOoOoOoooooo we're all doomed. It's nice here..hello everybodypeeps... ;D

Saturdays observations - sun strength was sufficient to persuade the greenhouse windows to open - that is unusual in Feb.

A cool damp morning heavy frost overnight but that is gone now, except for the pond, I reckon Ill be able to crack on out there today. I shall have a go at moving some hardy geraniums if the soil isnt frozen.

My peas and Sweet Peas seeds have germinated already (3 days). Wow. Aren't they wonderful things? Can I sow some more now?

After soaking them for 24 hours in tepid water, today I sowed (I know I said I wouldn't yet but they take a long tiime to germinate) 5 ensete ventriculosum and 6 trachycarpus fortunei (?sp....fan palm) They are in my heated propagator which works beeeeeyootifully...I hope.

Its nothing to write home about, my best stuff is close ups of just one flower/leaf..... I tried people and landscapes for fun, but I was rubbish at that. ;D

I did frame one once.... but it didnt fit in anywhere, so its in a box in the loft, its a pleasure to do, but I dont really want people looking at them.

Now stop that Plocket - I've been on your website and your paintings are lovely! I used to be able to draw but I have had so little chance for the last 25 years that I have no idea if I can still do it. Smallest has pinched all my stuff anyway. Do you find that with LP?

No I mean that I lack confidence about my work and don't show much of it. And that I tend to do flowers and stuff that I'm better at rather than landscapes and people.
LP isn't allowed anywhere near my art stuff! I've got an old fashioned wooden portable easel/box which she isn't allowed to touch, and a special art bag for my sketching stuff. My pencils are out of bounds too. Ooooooh no she's got her stuff and I've got mine!!! ;D Not that I do much at the moment - I should do though!

Cheery is a good artist, did you know? She has her lovely things on the walls of her house. They are all really attractive. My Nepeta seeds have germinated already - I thought they might take a while. So that's good. I may have to sow the other Nepeta..... I think my very favourite bit of gardening is watching the new growth unfurling from the seed. It never fails to thrill me. It's a marvel, each seed is a wonder of the world.

Do you think we'll ever get to see an example of Cheery's work? Or DrBill's for that matter! It sounds as though we have lots of artistic people on this board. I wonder if Sleepy would consider having an Arts & Crafts section? Or more likely if people would use it!!! ;D

I think people would be very coy! Actually I haven't got much about as I've only worked to sell previously. I have an oil painting of my Nanna that I did at Uni but I don't have the time or equipment to do anything much now. The last pictures I did were two Pub portraits someone asked me to do as presents for their owner a year ago. How on earth do you keep LP off your stuff Plocket? None of my girls ever left me anything. Only last week I got my cherished Caran D'ache crayons out only to find half of them missing.......they cost a lot of money too. I had to buy them specially for the pub pics and haven't used them since, so how did that happen? It's a mystery according to the kids but it makes me CROSS!

My stuff is on top shelves so she can't reach it!!! ;D I'm not daft!!! I've got a set of Caran D'Ache pencils and if LP ever touched them I'd be seriously miffed. You can buy them individually you know.....
I've never worked in oils - do you prefer them to water colours or Gouache then?
