It seems to be the thing now to encourage children and introduce them to Gardening as a Hobby--in School and at Home--

My Daughter Ruth has a raised bed put up for her two boys. Niall is 4 and Connor is 2, they each have their own little watering cans and are growing some wild flowers and sunflowers. Since he was able to toddle I have taken Niall around the garden when I go over and we name the shrubs and flowers he seems to love it. My Daughter Jenny has 2 girls the eldest of which Hannah was 2 last october. They visit me regularly and Hannah knows the names of lots of flowers and loves to get out into the garden with me. If you ask her what her favourite flower is she will tell you Lithadora, she loves to PICK the blue flowers off. She also loves to rub her hands through the lavender bushes. I think it's never too early to introduce children into the garden.
